Haaland would have been a revelation at United, says Allardyce

Erling Braut Haaland is currently one of the hottest prospects on the market, with the 19-year-old striker taking the footballing stage by storm.Just recently, he bagged a brace to seal Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and he’s not showing any signs of stopping just yet.

Is life under the Glazers really that bad? Maybe this quiz will change your minds, Man United fans…

And according to Sam Allardyce who spoke to talkSPORT about the youngster on Thursday, Manchester United will be regretting the fact that they didn’t sing him in January.

Here’s what he said about Haaland in full:

“If Haaland had come to Man Utd he would have been a revelation because he’s done the same for Borussia Dortmund. United would be looking in a much better position in the league already. They must be kicking themselves that they didn’t get him.”

And of course, taking everything Halland has done so far into consideration and looking purely at his record for the ongoing 2019/20 campaign, it’s rather difficult to disagree with Allardyce on this one.

39 goals in just 29 games across all competitions do speak for themselves but there might be hope for United yet because Bild recently revealed that the 19-year-old prodigy has a €75m (£63m) release clause in his contract with the Germans.

It’s pretty important to note, however, that the same source suggests this exit clause won’t be active in the coming summer.

Liverpool are ready to offer Sepp van den Berg a new contract

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are ready to offer Sepp van den Berg a new contract.

What’s the story?

The 17-year-old centre-back joined the Reds from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle during the summer for an initial fee of £1.3m, rising to a potential £4.5m.

Now, it appears that they are already preparing to give him a new deal, with Jurgen Klopp being impressed by his development since making the switch.

Forget Ben White

In recent weeks and months, the Anfield outfit have been linked with a move for Leeds defender Ben White, who is currently on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion. The 22-year-old has impressed in the Championship, being a part of the best defence in the second tier that has conceded just 10 goals.

However, it is being said that the Seagulls value his services at over £20m. Whilst he certainly has talent, as he has been showing during his 19 appearances for the Whites – he has played in every single league match – that is a large fee to pay for someone who is yet to play in the Premier League, with this being his first season in the second division as well.

Not only that, Liverpool do not need to spend that much on a new player when they have a youngster with huge potential in the same position. He may still be just 17, but he has already made two appearances for his new club, both of them in the League Cup, and he is in line to make another when the Merseyside team face Aston Villa in the semi-finals later this month.

Those matches have not been his first taste of professional football, either – he already has 21 appearances to his name in the Eredivisie, with him making his debut as a 16-year-old for his former outfit.

Much harder than you’d think… Can you name Liverpool’s top scorers for each of these 25 seasons?

Why spend money on a new signing, and such a hefty fee at that, when you have a player who could do the same job in the not so distant future? In today’s day and age, there is often the temptation to part with considerable amounts of money as soon as a decent talent begins to impress.

In regards to White, Liverpool must not be trigger-happy, and should instead look closer to home. This new deal will hopefully see them reconsider their interest in the Elland Road centre-back.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are eyeing this versatile Serie A forward.

West Brom’s predicted starting XI for their trip to QPR on Saturday

[ad_pod ]

West Brom will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to a ninth straight Championship game as they head to Loftus Road to face Queens Park Rangers.

It wouldn’t be too much of a shock to see plenty of goals in this fixture given that West Brom are yet to keep a clean sheet and the Rs have conceded in 88% of their matches.

Mark Warburton’s side are one place behind the Baggies in the table with only goal difference separating the two teams.

Neither team played in the Carabao Cup in midweek so they will be raring to go for this encounter.

But will Slaven Bilic make any significant changes to the side that is yet to taste defeat?

The Croatian will be buoyed by the returns of Kieran Gibbs, Hal Robson-Kanu and even Ahmed Hegazi from their respective injuries this weekend, but it is unlikely that any break into the starting XI.

Gibbs, in particular, faces a tough task to do so as academy graduate Nathan Ferguson has deputised emphatically, so much so that he could stake a claim on that position being his own – he has recorded two straight ratings above 7.00 by WhoScored.

Filip Krovinovic was drafted in against Huddersfield, but that appeared to be a mistake as Bilic hauled him off at half-time for Grady Diangana, who became the game-changer for the second time this season.

The West Ham loanee is likely to start here this weekend which means Matheus Pereira is pushed back into the number ten role at the Croatian’s expense.

Upfront, bit-part man Kenneth Zohore could return to the fold as Charlie Austin still searches for his first league goal in a Baggies shirt.

The £8m summer arrival has started four of his seven appearances.

The rest of the squad is likely to remain very much the same as six players have started all eight of their Championship matches.

Rangers fans excited to see Jamie Murphy back in action

[ad_pod ]

Rangers fans are looking forward to the return of winger Jamie Murphy after comments from the player about his battle with injury last season.

Murphy managed to make just eight appearances last season after suffering a campaign-ending injury away to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Having put in the hard work to get back to fitness though, the player is looking forward to making an impact in Steven Gerrard’s team next season.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

As quoted by the official Rangers website, the 29-year-old said:

“I am fully aware I have to do all that now so I can keep my career going as long as possible.

“I can’t wait [to be back involved]. We improved last year, and while we still never reached where we wanted to, improving is important.

“This year hopefully we can improve again and take that last step. We have a great squad here and everyone wants the same thing.”

Murphy has already shown he can contribute consistently for the Gers so far in his Ibrox career, scoring six goals and assisting 13 times in his 27 appearances so far.

Understandable then that fans are excited about his return, with some feeling he has what it takes to win his place back in the side, despite Gerrard making a number of signings in his position.

With a full pre-season, his match fitness should improve quickly and it sounds as if supporters can look forward to seeing him back in action sooner rather than later.

Woodward must be full of regret with Depay now worth £69.4 million

Manchester United have made a number of fantastic transfers over the years but they’ve also let a number of impressive players go who have gone on to reach new heights.

Indeed, one player who’s gone up a couple of levels since leaving Old Trafford is Memphis Depay.

The winger was given the No.7 shirt at United which automatically piled plenty of pressure on him as following in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps was always going to be an impossible task.

Manchester United fans were no doubt extremely frustrated with the way the winger operated during his time at the club as he had so much potential, but he just couldn’t find a way to unlock it.

Supporters will remember the winger for all the wrong reasons.

Sadly, the one main problem with Depay was his attitude as he never really managed to buckle down and focus on living up to his full potential. Of course, this was evident on the field as he produced just seven goals and six assists in 53 appearances, which was far from good enough as the Red Devils paid £30.6 million to sign him.

However, he looks to have lived up to his full potential at Lyon as he’s established himself as one of the best wingers in Europe this season, producing eight goals and 14 assists up until this point. And, the most shocking thing is that he’s now apparently worth €80 million (£69.3 million), according to CIES Football Observatory.

Ed Woodward surely must be full of regret after selling the winger for just £14.4 million (as per Transfermarkt), with the Lyon man now seemingly a £69.4 million gold mine.

Of course, after letting Gerard Pique leave Depay will go down as another mistake.

Tottenham fans react to N’Koudou’s loan departure

Tottenham Hotspur have allowed Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to join AS Monaco on loan, per a tweet from their official Twitter account.

The left winger departs after struggling to make a first-team breakthrough in north London over the past season.

N’Koudou, per Transfermarkt, has made three appearances for the club this season, playing 90 minutes once, in the FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

He joined the club from Marseille in 2016 for a fee of around £9m and, having spent part of last season on loan at Burnley, will now return to Ligue 1 as he looks to get his career back on track.

The deal is the second departure Spurs have sanctioned this month after allowing Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele to move to China earlier in the window.

However, they have yet to make a new signing themselves, and Spurs fans cannot understand why N’Koudou has been allowed to leave, such has been their inactivity in the transfer window.

McGeady’s focus should be on Sunderland rather than a desire for Celtic return

Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady has revealed in an interview with the Daily Record that he would be “happy” to end his career back at Celtic, but believes that a transfer would be unlikely.

What’s the word?

The 32-year-old spent the first seven matches of the Black Cats’ League One campaign on the sidelines.

However, in eight of the club’s last nine league outings, McGeady has made a handful of appearances.

Since recovering from injury, the winger has made an impact by scoring three goals in his last two outings.

Two of his strikes came in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Plymouth, which left Sunderland second in the table, three points adrift of leaders Portsmouth.

Recently while speaking to the Daily Record, McGeady admitted that he would like to return to Celtic, where he began his career, but he is not holding out much hope.

“I think the moment where I could have returned as Celtic player has passed. I would be happy to finish my career in a Celtic shirt, but I don’t think it will happen.”

Is he being disrespectful to Sunderland?

Well, McGeady only signed for the Black Cats last year and it was only recently when he started becoming an asset to Jack Ross’s team.

At his age, it is normal for players to filter down the leagues and play for a handful of clubs before retiring.

However, McGeady could play a significant role in Sunderland’s promotion hopes, therefore his comments in the media should be focusing on the campaign at hand.

In fairness to the Scotland international, he did not exactly issue a come-and-get-me plea, but any mention of a desire to play elsewhere will make some fans question his focus.

These Aston Villa fans can’t make up their minds on Andre Moreira

Aston Villa managed to scrape a 1-0 win away at Yeovil Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup thanks to a late goal from Conor Hourihane.

The result is Steve Bruce’s third victory of the season so far following wins against Hull City and Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

The Huish Park tie also gave Villa fans their first sighting of new goalkeeper Andre Moreira who saved an Alex Fisher penalty when the game was deadlocked.

The 22-year-old moved to Villa Park from Atletico Madrid this summer on a one-year loan deal, although the shot-stopper is yet to make a senior appearance for the Spanish side.

He is the third different ‘keeper to feature for Villa this season after Orjan Nyland and Jed Steer, although some fans weren’t convinced by their new man, despite his penalty save.

Aston Villa fans have been reacting to Moreira’s performance on social media and here’s what they’ve had to say about the goalkeeper.

Rangers fans are desperate to see more of Greg Docherty

Rangers are back on the right track after Tuesday night’s Scottish Premiership action after they comfortably defeated Partick Thistle 2-0 at Firhill.

Josh Windass and James Tavernier scored in each half to secure the three points, just days after a disappointing loss to Hibernian at Ibrox.

Having found themselves again adrift of Aberdeen in second, it was vitally important they win their game in hand and having done so move to within three points of Derek McInnes’ outfit.

Fans were pleased with the result but still found some frustration in the performance of the team and the decisions made by Graeme Murty.

One big talking point coming out of the evening was the lack of action for new signing Greg Docherty, who had to settle for five minutes off the bench in place of Daniel Candeias.

The promising Scotland U21 international is seen as an exciting prospect within the Rangers support and they’re calling on the Rangers boss to give him his first start away to Ayr United in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

In Focus: Bale still good enough to be among Premier League’s best at United

As reported by The Express, Jose Mourinho is still interested in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, but is willing to wait 12 months to get the deal done.

What’s the story?

Mourinho has already signed some key talent at Old Trafford this summer with the acquisitions of Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof adding more depth to his Red Devils squad.

However, there’s one man still out there that can really bring their attacking set-up to the next level.

The Express say that Mourinho is planning to make a massive £90m move for Gareth Bale in 2018, although would still considering blowing his summer budget on the player this year if he becomes available.

Would a Bale return to the Premier League be a success?

Football Soccer – Bayern Munich v Real Madrid – UEFA Champions League Quarter Final First Leg – Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany – 12/4/17 Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale speaks to Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane as he is substituted off Reuters / Michael Dalder Livepic

Still one of the best

Despite falling down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and struggling with injuries at Real Madrid, it’d be silly to say Gareth Bale wouldn’t still be one of the best players in the Premier League should he make a return to England.

His problems at Real Madrid might mean his long-term future there is in doubt but he’s still been a great performer for the Spanish giants, scoring 67 goals in 150 appearances for the club from a range of attacking midfield and forward positions.

He would add a real spark to the Man United attack should he sign up at Old Trafford and could be the kind of player that takes their ambitions to the next level under Jose Mourinho.

If they can do a deal for him, whether it be this year or next, it’s something they should be prepared to go all out to get done.
