Leeds United: Farke wants to sell £50k-p/w star ahead of Gnonto

Leeds United would rather sell 26-year-old winger Jack Harrison, who earns £50k per week, than youngster Wilfried Gnonto this summer, according to Dean Jones.

Is Jack Harrison leaving Leeds?

Leeds have already had to deal with a number of big players leaving the club this summer. The likes of Rodrigo, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca have all departed on either permanent or loan deals and it's expected that more will follow.

While selling has become a necessity for Leeds now they are in the Championship, fans will still be concerned seeing a number of top-quality talents heading for the exit door, with the club not recouping much in the way of transfer fees.

Another man that has been linked with a departure is talented Italian speedster Gnonto. The 19-year-old has been subject of interest from Everton among a host of other clubs, with the expectation being that he may leave Leeds in a £20m move to Merseyside.

However, recent reports have indicated that Gnonto is not entirely sold on the Everton project and could consider sticking with Leeds in the second tier instead.

In that eventuality, Leeds may turn to selling Harrison according to journalist Jones, who was hailed by former manager Jesse Marsch as an "intelligent" player, and a deal would set any interested club back £16m per the player's release clause.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones stated: "It’s a strange situation because the interest levels haven’t been at the levels I would have expected when they were relegated.

"The information around the situation, as it stands, is that Leeds would sell Harrison more willingly than Gnonto. The bids for him haven’t come in at the moment, though."

Harrison was the subject of interest from Leicester City in January but Leeds' unwillingness to sell meant a move never materialised. The Foxes could revive their pursuit of the winger but the Whites would probably be reluctant to sell to a Championship title rival.

The former Manchester City man has made 206 appearances for Leeds, scoring 34 and providing 32 assists, and his experience of navigating the Championship may be sorely missed by Daniel Farke should he leave.

Who are Leeds signing?

Despite having had to witness more outgoings than incomings so far, Leeds' transfer window almost feels like it is starting now when it comes to signings.

They have brought in Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea for £7m plus add-ons and have recently announced the signing of Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow to compete with Illan Meslier between the sticks.

Given the number of departures, Leeds still need a fair few new faces if they want to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Farke has a difficult job on his hands, but the completion of the recent takeover may loosen the purse strings at Elland Road.

Swansea City's prolific centre-forward Joel Piroe has been linked as the Whites look for a more reliable goalscorer than Patrick Bamford. The 23-year-old scored 19 goals in the Championship last season but would likely cost Leeds a large transfer fee to get a deal done.

At the other end of the pitch, Leeds have reportedly started negotiations for Everton defender Mason Holgate, with the 26-year-old perhaps seen as surplus to requirements by Sean Dyche.

£88.5m Signings Speaks Out On Initial Chelsea Struggles

Since making the move to Chelsea for a reported £88.5m in January, Mykhailo Mudryk has failed to live up to the price tag at Stamford Bridge, failing to score a single Premier League goal, as the Blues fell to a bottom-half finish.

The Ukraine winger wasn't helped by the chaos of Graham Potter's tenure, followed by the failure of interim boss Frank Lampard, in a run that saw Chelsea fail to win the legend's first six games in charge.

For an £88.5m fee, though, the expectations were far higher for Mudryk. He simply did not live up to the hype, however.

Nonetheless, at 22, he has plenty of time to burst into life at Stamford Bridge. And, after impressing in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino so far – and showing glimpses of his top talent with Ukraine's U21 side at the European Championship – Chelsea could finally have the player they paid for.

The winger recently spoke about his initial struggles, and what's to come.

What did Mykhailo Mudryk say?

Speaking after Chelsea's 4-3 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in pre-season, in which he scored, Mudryk said, via ESPN: "I feel happy for all the work I put into this goal.

"It is not all my potential. It is only 20 percent. I feel good because playing under Pochettino, our manager, it is nice, it is enjoyable and it is a new team which is also enjoyable."

Claiming that he's only at 20 percent potential, the Blues have themselves a player ready to take the Premier League by storm next season. Praising Pochettino already too for the role he's played behind the scenes in helping him improve, we could finally see the winger burst into life as they build a relationship.

As the chaos dies down at the London club, and Pochettino settles into life at the club, Mudryk may well do the same.

His goal against Brighton was particularly impressive, orchestrating the move, before finishing it off in style, volleying home into the bottom left for his first Chelsea goal.

Mykhailo-Mudryk

What is the market value of Mykhailo Mudryk?

After struggling last season, Mudryk isn't quite worth the reported £88.5m that the Blues paid for him back in January. Naturally, his value decreased.

Now, according to Transfermarkt, the winger is worth just €50m (£43.04m), which is less than half of what Chelsea initially splashed out for his signature back in January.

The hope will be that Mudryk realises his potential under Pochettino in the coming months.

It will certainly help if the club maintains some stability after a rollercoaster ride in the last campaign, which ended with little to no joy.

The Blues' main goal will be to get back into the Champions League after such a disappointing finish last time out, which saw them fail to qualify for Europe altogether.

It will be difficult given the competition in England's top flight, however, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United all vying for a place.

If Mudryk can hit top form, though, then Chelsea may just unlock themselves an unexpected talisman to lead the way in the coming months. Those in London could finally get the Eden Hazard replacement that they have so desperately been longing for.

It will certainly be an interesting season to watch.

Nasir's 106 for Gazi Group tops off fine day for chasing teams

Nasir Hossain’s unbeaten run-a-ball 106 got Gazi Group Cricketers home in just 37 overs as they crushed Mohammedan Sporting Club by seven wickets at the BKSP-3 ground in Savar. After shutting down Mohammedan for 220 for 8 in 50 overs, Nasir slammed five sixes and nine fours during his innings, during which he shared a 54-run third-wicket stand with Anamul Haque (54) which rebuild their chase after they lost two wickets in the first 4.1 overs. Then he added 144 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket with Indian recruit Parvez Rasool who made 53 off 57 balls.Mohammedan’s score meanwhile would have been much smaller if their Afghanistan recruit Rahmat Shah and Mehedi Hasan Miraz hadn’t made half-centuries. Shah struck six fours in his 91-ball 78 while Miraz, slowly emerging as an allrounder of note, made 52 off 70 balls. For Gazi Group, seamer Alauddin Babu and offspinner Mahedi Hasan took two wickets each.Rubel Hossain’s third six-wicket haul in List-A cricket derailed Kalabagan Krira Chakra as Prime Bank Cricket Club won by five wickets at the BKSP-4 ground in Savar. Four other batsmen got starts but couldn’t kick on, as left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak finished with four wickets and Sohag Gazi took three wickets. In reply, Dhanmondi Club saw plenty of batsmen getting starts but only Nurul Hasan hitting the match-winning score, 80 off 94 balls with five fours and a six. Left-arm spinner Monir Hossain took three wickets to give Victoria a sniff of victory, but Dhanmondi Club’s tail-end batsmen held on for a tight win.

Chelsea beating Man United in race to sign "monster" player

Chelsea remain the 'most likely' destination for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo to end up this summer, according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs.

What's the latest transfer news involving Moises Caicedo?

Chelsea were reported to have joined the race just under a week ago, and things look to have picked up since then.

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the state of play surrounding Caicedo and Chelsea, stating on Twitter: "Understand Chelsea will continue talks with Brighton for Moisés Caicedo next week. Clubs will be in direct contact as negotiations are ongoing. Chelsea hope to find a solution soon as personal terms are not an issue, Moisés already said yes to Chelsea. Talks on."

Rudy Galetti, who is also a journalist, has issued a further development in the Blues' quest to land the £60k-a-week ace on Twitter, stating: "Moises Caicedo, the talks between Chelsea and Brighton are entering in the final stage. Understand the 2 clubs agreed the fixed amount of the transfer (~£75m) and now they are discussing the add-ons. Moises is keen to join CFC and he’s pushing for the move."

The Athletic have alternatively provided information that suggests Brighton could demand a colossal £100 million fee to part ways with the Ecuador international this off-season.

The Seagulls are believed to have benchmarked the price bracket that West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is being quoted at amid interest from Arsenal and think that Caicedo is every bit as good, if not better, than the England international.

Football Insider detail that Chelsea are 'increasingly confident of securing an agreement' to bring Caicedo to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jacobs believes that somewhere around the £80 million mark would be a more realistic fee structure for Caicedo than the reported £100 million demand from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Jacobs said: "Of course, you'd expect Brighton to try and get the best possible deal. But I understand that Caicedo will be a lot closer to £80m than £100m and Chelsea, not Manchester United, remains the most likely destination at this point."

Would Moises Caicedo be a good signing for Chelsea?

It's hard to argue otherwise when you take his meteoric rise at the Amex Stadium into account, which has paved the way for high-profile interest from the likes of Chelsea to become apparent this window.

Last season, Caicedo, who has been hailed as a "monster", made 43 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion in all competitions, registering one goal and one assist, as per Transfermarkt.

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo also managed an average of 2.7 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per match in the Premier League across 2022/23, making his presence known at the heart of the Seagulls' engine room, according to WhoScored.

Driving his side forward from midfield, the Ecuadorian enforcer successfully completed 88 shot-creating actions in the English top flight and showed his desire to help offensive moves, as per FBRef.

Mauricio Pochettino looks to be hard at work as he looks to secure his preferred targets and Caicedo may well be the next in line to pitch up in SW6.

Focus On Tonali Caused Toon To Miss Out On Szoboszlai

Newcastle United "were no longer working on" a deal to sign Dominik Szoboszlai over the past few weeks because their "focus was on Sandro Tonali", claims transfers expert Fabrizio Romano.

Newcastle United transfer news – What's the latest on Dominik Szoboszlai and Sandro Tonali?

The Magpies enjoyed an unbelievable season last year, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in two decades and making it to the final of the Carabao Cup, despite falling at the final hurdle.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

It's no surprise that with their new status as the richest club in the world and the arrival of continental football at St James' Park, Eddie Howe and Co are looking to make a statement in the summer transfer window.

That said, the Toon haven't had it all their own way thus far, with long-term target James Maddison signing for Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week with the Metro reporting that the England international was impressed with Ange Postecoglou's pitch.

Another player that seems to have slipped through the cracks is Hungarian international and RB Leipzig star, Szoboszlai.

According to Football Insider, the dynamic midfielder was on Howe's shortlist of potential transfer targets, and the Magpies eventually made an 'approach to sign' the 22-year-old back in May.

However, it appears that any deal with the club would have been pointless, as Leipziger Volkszeitung reporter Guido Schafer claimed on the Anfield Roar podcast (via NewcastleWorld) that:

dominik-szoboszlai-premier-league-liverpool-transfers

"He (Szoboszlai) wants to leave. He said 'I want to make the next step', and he loves the Premier League. If he can choose between Champions League with Newcastle and Europa League with Jurgen Klopp, he will choose Klopp and the Europa League. That is for sure."

The Hungarian dynamo now looks to have gotten his wish, with Liverpool having reportedly offered to pay the German club the £60m required to activate his release clause.

However, according to Romano, Newcastle were less keen than first thought and had recently stopped working on the deal to focus on their primary transfer target, AC Milan's Tonali.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "Let me say for Newcastle fans that in the past few days, Newcastle were no longer working on this one because their focus was on Sandro Tonali.

"Sandro Tonali is a done deal and will be announced I think during the weekend from what I am told."

How good is Sandro Tonali?

The Italian international has been brilliant in Serie A over the last few seasons, earning himself a loan move to AC Milan from Brescia in 2020 before making the move permanent in 2021.

Sandro Tonali, midfielder for AC Milan

Since making his debut at the San Siro, he has made 130 appearances for the club, helping the team to win the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years in the 2021/22 season.

According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old averaged a brilliant rating of 6.91 across his 34 Serie A appearances last season, scoring twice and assisting his teammates another seven times.

The "leader", as described by football scout Jacek Kulig, is set to cost the Toon at least £55m, but based on his fantastic performances for Milan, that could well look like a bargain a few years down the line.

West Ham: Moyes eyeing £40m move for Premier League gem

West Ham United are keen on making a move for Nottingham Forest talisman Brennan Johnson this summer, according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail.

Who is Brennan Johnson?

Johnson is one of Nottingham Forest’s own. Born in Nottingham, the forward entered the academy and hasn’t looked back ever since.

The Englishman was a crucial part of Forest’s shock promotion from the Championship in the 2021/22 season, with 19 goals in all competitions, including two in the play-offs.

Is Brennan Johnson leaving Nottingham Forest?

Whilst Johnson’s Nottingham Forest exit is far from a guarantee this summer, given their Premier League status, the Wales youngster has reportedly attracted plenty of interest.

This comes as little surprise, too, given the exceptional campaign that the "unbelievable" forward – as once hailed by former boss Sabri Lamouchi – had in the Premier League for the first time – scoring eight goals and assisting a further three to help keep Forest afloat.

Still young, Johnson has plenty of time for improvement, meaning that any club that did swoop in this summer would have themselves a player for both the present and the future.

As per Jones, West Ham are interested in the forward, though do face competition from Everton. Both clubs could battle it out for Johnson, who is reportedly valued at £40m by Forest.

The Hammers could certainly do with the goals that the Forest man could bring, that’s for sure – last summer’s £30.5m flop – Gianluca Scamacca – found the back of the net just three times in a total of 16 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, Michail Anontio’s form began to spiral slightly when it came to domestic action, only scoring on three occasions, despite making 33 appearances in the league last season.

Their lack of goalscorer very nearly cost the Hammers the ultimate price of relegation, before David Moyes guided them to safety. But, nonetheless, this is a precarious feeling they won’t want to face again, meaning that reinforcements are a must this summer.

With Forest’s valuation of Johnson reportedly as high as £40m, however, West Ham may need the financial boost of potentially winning the Europa Conference League if they are to consider pursuing the deal further.

Those at the London Stadium showed last summer that they are willing to break the bank for quality, though, having hit a new transfer record with the deal for Lucas Paqueta, which saw them splash out a record £51.3m.

Johnson may well find himself amongst West Ham’s most expensive signings, if the Hammers continue their interest in the forward and complete a deal.

Southee six-for secures 55-run lead on wet day

A six-wicket haul from Tim Southee secured a 55-run first-innings lead for New Zealand and left Babar Azam stranded ten short of a maiden Test hundred

The Report by Karthik Krishnaswamy27-Nov-2016
Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsTim Southee and Neil Wagner combined to take nine Pakistan wickets•Getty ImagesA six-wicket haul from Tim Southee secured a 55-run lead for New Zealand and left Babar Azam stranded ten short of a maiden Test hundred on a damp third day at Seddon Park. Rain allowed only 38.1 overs of play. A brief shower forced lunch eight minutes early, and only six balls were possible in the second session. Pakistan’s innings ended 5.2 overs into the third session, after which the New Zealand openers came out and faced one ball before it rained again.Pakistan were 76 for 5 at the start of the day’s play, and trailed New Zealand by 195. That they narrowed their deficit to 55 was down largely to two partnerships featuring Azam: 74 for the sixth wicket with Sarfraz Ahmed, and 67 for the seventh with Sohail Khan. New Zealand then struck back, taking the last four wickets for only 24 runs.Azam had feasted on some wayward New Zealand bowling on the second evening, picking up a number of boundaries with the cut and the flick. The seamers were a lot more disciplined against him on the third morning, largely sticking to a fourth-stump line and seldom wavering from a good length. Azam fought discipline with discipline, showing excellent defensive technique and looking entirely unaffected when his partners outscored him. He looked to play in the V as much as possible, and two of his five fours on the day came in that region, glorious drives down the ground off Wagner.A long awaited five-for

28 Tests played by Tim Southee without taking a five-wicket haul. His previous five-for was 6 for 50 at Lord’s in 2013.

2 Five-fors for Southee in 26 home Tests. His first five-wicket haul at home had come on debut in 2007-08.

61.75 Babar Azam’s average in international matches this year – the best for Pakistan. He has 988 runs in 20 innings across formats.

The morning began with Sarfraz going after the bowling by pulling, cutting, and jumping out of his crease to put the fast bowlers off their length. He hit six fours in two successive overs from Southee, who was unable to find either the seam movement or the length that helped him run through Pakistan’s top order on day two and offered up a number of short balls. Just as he entered the 40s and raised hopes of a similar innings to his match-turning 96 against Sri Lanka in Galle last year, he steered Neil Wagner straight to second slip, where Jeet Raval clung onto an excellent reflex catch.Sohail, whose second-innings 40 in Christchurch earned him a promotion to No. 8, took over Sarfraz’s role at the crease. Wagner, looking to test him with the short ball from both sides of the wicket, ended up leaking runs as Sohail took him on with the pull and the hook. Twice in succession, Sohail sent the ball soaring over the fielder at long leg, and once he bisected long leg and deep square leg.The seventh-wicket pair took Pakistan into the 190s before Southee, returning for his second spell of the day, found some outswing to break the partnership, first beating and then kissing Sohail’s outside edge. Then, in the next over, Colin de Grandhomme had Wahab Riaz lbw, his front pad going too far across the stumps and coming in the way of his bat’s downswing. The final session began with Pakistan 201 for 8, with Azam batting on 81. Southee bowled a leg-stump half-volley which Azam put away to the boundary, but produced a beauty in his next over, the extra bounce forcing Mohammad Amir to lob a catch to second slip off the glove. In came Imran Khan, playing his eighth Test and yet to score a run in the format. He got off the mark off his second ball, dabbing Southee for a couple towards third man, and Azam moved to 90 with a rasping square-cut off Matt Henry in the next over. That, though, would remain his last scoring stroke, as Southee, peppering Imran with the short ball, forced the No. 11 to tickle one off his ribs and offer BJ Watling a catch down the leg side.Southee’s 6 for 80 was his first five-wicket haul at home since his debut Test in 2008.

Liverpool Enter Race To Bring £50m "Leader" To Anfield

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, according to reports.

Who is Marc Guehi?

Guehi is an Chelsea academy graduate, but arrived at Selhurst Park in 2021 and has gone on to make 81 appearances to date. In the Premier League, the 22-year-old has started 36 out of 37 games this season and his impressive form has seen him not only receive an international call-up for England, but also significant interest from outside of SE25.

Football Transfers has credited Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United with an interest in the centre-back, while Arsenal have also since entered the running. Elsewhere, transfer insider Dean Jones has claimed that he could still remain with Roy Hodgson’s side beyond the summer, though a fourth potential suitor has now emerged in Liverpool.

Are Liverpool signing Guehi?

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are the latest Premier League giant to have “joined” the queue to sign Guehi ahead of the 2023/24 term. The Lilywhites, Red Devils and the Gunners are once again name-checked as admirers, with Palace believed to have placed a £50m price tag on the defender’s head.

FSG and Jurgen Klopp, however, might not “have the budget” to cough up that much money as a result of wanting to “prioritise” midfield signings. The Eagles are set to make definitive decisions surrounding the futures of their prized assets once a new long-term manager is appointed.

marc-guehi-premier-league-liverpool-transfers

Liverpool have already been linked with the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka, RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Napoli's Kim Min-Jae at centre-back, but with Guehi being a homegrown talent and the fact he already has Premier League experience, this could make him a more suitable alternative, whether that be in a deal this summer or in the near future.

The Palace talisman ranks highly amongst his teammates in a number of defensive areas, as he is currently averaging 3.6 clearances, as well as 1.4 tackles and aerial wins per top-flight game, via WhoScored, suggesting Guehi is an integral rock at the heart of the backline, which has seen him dubbed a “leader” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

The Abidjan-born star, who has the flexibility to play at left-back and right-back alongside his natural position, is also capable of contributing to his team‘s efforts at the opposite end of the pitch, with six goal contributions (five goals and one assist) to his name since joining the Eagles, so he there are plenty of signs he could be an all-round ideal signing for Klopp on Merseyside.

Courtney Walsh succeeded Heath Streak in Bangladesh set-up

Courtney Walsh, the former West Indies captain, has signed on as Bangladesh’s new bowling coach until the 2019 World Cup.Walsh, who is set to arrive in the country in the coming week, replaced Heath Streak, who served as bowling coach for two years until May.This would be Walsh’s first major coaching role in international cricket since retiring in 2001 as the then leading wicket-taker in Tests. He has since worked as a cricket administrator in various roles including West Indies selector, mentor with Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL, and as manager of the West Indies Under-19 team. Most recently, Walsh served as part of the West Indies selection panel.”Having watched Bangladesh cricket from afar over the years, they are a seriously talented bunch of players,” Walsh said. “Chandika Hathurusingha has done a wonderful job thus far as Head Coach so hopefully I can complement his skills and continue the positive progress.”Obviously the West Indies is my home but the chance to go in a new direction in coaching at the international level with a talented group, was one I couldn’t let that opportunity pass.”Walsh was the second high-profile West Indian in a coaching role with Bangladesh following Gordon Greenidge, the former West Indies opener, who had steered Bangladesh to the 1999 World Cup via victory at the 1997 ICC Trophy.”Bangladesh cricket at present is going through the best pace bowling phase in our history,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, “And Courtney’s involvement, I am sure will take it to greater heights.”Bangladesh had had their best year in ODI cricket in 2015, when they won a series each against South Africa, Pakistan and India.
