Southampton will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the 2020/21 Premier League season by picking up all three points against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Saints secured an impressive 2-1 win against Brighton last time out, so will be confident when they face Chris Wilder’s side at St Mary’s, with the Blades having picked up just one point in the Premier League so far this season.

Following his winning goal from the bench last time out, it seems likely that Danny Ings will return to Southampton’s starting line up but considering the Saints’ strong recent form, it would be a surprise to see too many other changes.

Here’s how Football FanCast expects Hasenhuttl to line his side up against Sheffield United…

Unsurprisingly, Hasenhuttl keeps faith in Alex McCarthy, with the shot-stopper no doubt hoping to pick up his fifth clean sheet of the season in Sunday’s game.

Jannik Vestergaard could be a threat with his height from corners, whilst Jan Bednarek continues to partner the Dane in defence, although it surely won’t be long until we see Mohammed Salisu make his first appearance in a Saints shirt.

Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Bertrand continue to start at full-back, with both having been mainstays in Hasenhuttl’s side so far this season.

There’s one change in midfield, as Nathan Redmond is restored to the starting XI after an arguably disappointing display from Moussa Djenepo in the win against Brighton – his 6.4 rating as per Sofascore was the joint-lowest of any Southampton player.

James Ward-Prowse and Oriol Romeu can continue their impressive partnership in midfield, with the duo having been two of Hasenhuttl’s standout performers in the Premier League this year – the duo are both in the top five for average match rating for the Saints as per Whoscored.

Finally, Ings is given the nod to start up front, ahead of Theo Walcott, who drops out after a poor performance against Brighton last time out.

Back in 2016, Lee Dixon was full of praise for the former Arsenal man, saying:

“His speed and quality on the ball is unquestionable.

“Now all of a sudden he is unplayable. He is thinking about the game. It seems like he has turned into a different player.”

However, Ings’ connection with Che Adams up front has been a key part of Southampton’s impressive run of form – the duo have 14 goal contributions combined –  and if those two can perform well, the Saints will surely have a good chance of picking up all three points against Sheffield United.

O zagueiro Renato Chaves chegou ao Fluminense no dia 13 de janeiro, realizou exames médicos, participou de parte da pré-temporada nos Estados Unidos e até jogou 45 minutos do jogo contra o Internacional na Florida Cup. Mas a apresentação oficial do zagueiro, que veio da Ponte Preta, acontecerá neste domingo pela manhã, após o treino da equipe nas Laranjeiras.

Renato Chaves foi a quinta contratação do Tricolor para esta temporada. Chegou depois de Diego Souza, Richarlison, Felipe Amorim e Henrique. O defensor foi adquirido como uma aposta após bom Brasileiro de 2015 pela Macaca.

Na primeira partida pelo Fluminense, na última quarta-feira, ele mostrou ter bastante tranquilidade e personalidade.

Além dele, o zagueiro Henrique e o meia Diego Souza, que também atuaram nos Estados Unidos, ainda serão apresentados. Mas isso só deve acontecer amanhã. Dos reforços, Diego Souza foi o único que não apareceu nas Laranjeiras. Ele viajou direto para os EUA.

كما يحضر الافتتاح المهندس هاني أبو ريدة عضو مجلس الفيفا والمكتب التنفيذي للكاف على هامش انعقاد الجمعية العمومية للاتحاد الإفريقي يوم الجمعة المقبل، وبما يتواءم مع حجم المناسبة التي تأتي على هامش احتفال الاتحاد المصري بمرور مائة عام على تأسيسه.

As estreias de Flamengo e Boavista no Campeonato Carioca estão confirmadas. Na manhã deste sábado, a Prefeitura desinterditou o Giulite Coutinho e liberou a realização da partida , marcada para 19h30. O América, proprietário do estádio, assinou um Termo de Ajustamento de Conduta e se comprometeu em cumprir as exigências necessárias após o parecer negativo dado pela Defesa Civil e pela Secretaria de Meio-Ambiente de Mesquita, Baixada Fluminense.

Feito isso, funcionários da Prefeitura estiveram no Giulite nesta manhã e retiraram o documento de interdição, que foi colocado na tarde de sexta. O chefe de gabinete da Prefeitura de Mesquita, Elço Luís Padilha, confirmou a liberação do estádio para as estreias de Flamengo e Boavista no Estadual.

– Procede. O América irá assinar um TAC (Termo de Ajustamento de Conduta) para cumprir, em breve, todas as exigências necessárias – disse, ao LANCE!.

A reportagem também entrou em contato com a Ferj, que confirmou o jogo, ainda que o estádio tenha sido desinterditado cerca de dez horas antes de a bola rolar. O diretor executivo do América, Marco Antonio Teixeira, agradeceu à Prefeitura pelo bom senso e lembrou que foi um bem para os torcedores.

– Acredito que eles concluíram que seria um malefício para todos a não realização da partida. Muita gente já tinha até comprado ingresso. Só cabe a nós, do América, parabenizar o bom senso da Prefeitura – comentou, ao L!.

A torcida do Flamengo já havia comprado uma boa parte da carga de ingressos para o jogo. Diante do impasse, a diretoria rubro-negra se mostrou sempre confiante de que a partida seria, sim, realizada normalmente. Os jogadores não tiveram concentração – decisão tomada antes da polêmica – e se reapresentam normalmente no fim desta manhã, em um hotel na Barra da Tijuca.

According to a recent report, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, should they part with Dele Alli this January.

The report by Calcio Mercato (via Sport Witness) claims that McKennie, who only recently joined Juventus on a season-long loan deal that can become a permanent move if the Old Lady pay another €18.5 million (£16.8 million) to Schalke at the end of the season, is a target for Spurs, should the north London side part with Dele Alli.

So far in his time at Juventus, the £22.5 million-rated central midfielder has made 10 appearances in Serie A, scoring one goal and providing two assists, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.84 – ranking him as the club’s 12th-best performer in the Italian top flight.

And, as well as Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea are also reportedly keeping an eye on the midfielder, who Juve’s chief football officer, Fabio Paratici, has described as ‘exuberant’ and ‘intelligent’.

Transfer Tavern Take

Considering the fact that McKennie’s deal at Juventus is slightly complicated, as he is still only currently on loan from Schalke, it would seem unlikely that Tottenham would be able to make a move for the American international until the summer, at the very least.

As such, should Spurs let Alli leave in the January transfer window, it would seem, if they do indeed believe that McKennie is the player they would like to replace the 24-year-old, that they will have to make do without the extra body in midfield for the second half of the season.

O que era o desejo de deixar o Campeonato Pernambucano mais acirrado e evitar que Sport, Santa Cruz e Náutico sofressem com o desgaste de competições simultâneas culminou em muita insatisfação. Prestes à rodada final do Primeiro Turno se realizar, os clubes de menor investimento se dizem preteridos por ter apenas dois credenciados para o Hexagonal Final.

– As equipes do interior buscaram se qualificar mas, desde 2014, pegaram todos de surpresa e a gente luta para estabelecer um padrão. Investimos no clube, e corremos o risco de, em caso de não passar no Primeiro Turno, só ter jogos no interior! Parece que só querem que tenha campeonato regional a partir de agora – desabafou o presidente do Serra Talhada, José Raimundo Filho, ao LANCE!.

O vice-presidente do América, Carlos Monez, também destaca a sensação de jogar um “campeonato secundário”. Aos seus olhos, o clube, único representante da capital atuando no Primeiro Turno, que teve início em 10 de janeiro.

– Agente fica como a sensação de que está jogando uma Série A2 dentro da Primeira Divisão. O técnico do Central, Flávio Barros, também admitiu a dificuldade para contar com um elenco mais forte devido ao risco de falta de visibilidade e aos obstáculos causados pela maratona de jogos:

– A gente sabia que tinha dificuldades para montar um grupo. É um risco muito grande, mas planejamos o máximo possível para contar com atletas de qualidade para ajudar o Central.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were imperious at the Hawthorns, dismantling the Baggies in a scintillating first-half display that saw them race to a 4-0 lead before the break.

So, with Tottenham coming up on Saturday, the Leeds boss may be reluctant to make any significant changes, but he might be tempted to unleash Jamie Shackleton.

The 21-year-old has yet to complete a full 90 minutes this season in the top-flight, but has been involved in the past five games, playing in a number of different roles, including right-back and central midfield.

And that versatility is something people have talked up. Speaking last year when Shackleton was just coming back injury, Noel Whelan raved about his ability, saying: “He is a favourite of the fans and a really lovely young man. He is so valuable to Marcelo Bielsa because he can play so many positions so well – right-back, central midfielder, number 10, wing-back.

“He is very quick, tenacious, really energetic, good on the ball, a real athlete, so his return at such a key point in the season is very welcome. Jamie has so much to offer and I’m sure he will have a big role to play in the second half of the season.”

Bielsa himself has gone on record to say how big of a fan he is of the versatile ace, saying: “Jamie has a maturity which does not correspond to his age. He plays like a veteran but he’s only 19.

“He can attack by surprise, he defends well and when he moves he has explosive movements. With these kind of movements he can surprise his opponent and he looks for space at the right time.”With Klich having a tough time as of late, Bielsa could throw Jose Mourinho off the scent by making a bold call to start Shackleton from the off.The 21-year-old’s energy and dynamism could be a real game-changer and add some fresh legs in the engine room.
