أعرب الإنجليزي، سكوت كارسون، حارس مرمى فريق مانشستر سيتي، عن اعتزازه بمُشاركته لأول مرة مع السكاي بلو، مُنذ الانضمام للنادي السماوي، أمام نيوكاسل يونايتد في البريميرليج.

وشهد انتصار مانشستر سيتي على نيوكاسل، بنتيجة 4-3، أمس الجمعة، على ملعب “سانت جيمس بارك”، بالجولة السادسة والثلاثين من المُسابقة، الظهور الأول للحارس كارسون، لأول مرة في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز مُنذ 2011 وكان حينها مع وست بروميتش وضد المكابيس أيضًا.

وقال كارسون لـ “BBC Sport” عقب نهاية المباراة: “لقد استمتعت بكل دقيقة بعد عودتي إلى الملاعب، أنا سعيد لأننا فزنا في نهاية اليوم”.

وأضاف: “في مرحلة ما أعتقد أنني نسيت ما أشعر به عندما أشارك في مباراة، لسوء الحظ لم يتمكن أي من المُشجعين أو أفراد عائلتي من الحضور، ولكن هذه لحظة فخر أخرى في مسيرتي”.

واستدرك: “ولكن اليوم الأمر لم يكن يتعلق بي، الحصول على الثلاث نقاط اليوم كانت هي أهم شيء”.

وعن بيب جوارديولا: “إنه مدرب لا يُصدق، ببساطة، إنه عبقري وتكتيكي للغاية”.

وفيما يتعلق باحتمالية حصوله على ميدالية الفائز بلقب البريميرليج: “أنا لست مُتأكدًا، إذا عرضت علي ميدالية، لن أرفضها، أنا أيضًا لدي دور هُنا لألعبه، أريد أنّ أستمر في دعم اللاعبين بأفضل ما أستطيع”.

يُذكر أنّ اللائحة الخاصة بالدوري الإنجليزي، تُنص أن يشارك أي لاعب على الأقل في خمس مباريات بالمسابقة، حتى يحصل على الميدالية، وكارسون أمام نيوكاسل، كانت مباراته الأولى.

According to a report from The Sunday Mirror (print version, November 24, page 72), Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters is set to reject interest from both Southampton and Crystal Palace in favour of staying at Spurs and fighting for his place.

The youngster was given the nod by Mauricio Pochettino following Kieran Trippier’s summer exit to Atletico Madrid, starting the first three games of the current Premier League campaign.

However, Walker-Peters quickly lost his place to Serge Aurier and has failed to win it back.

In Southampton’s case, the south coast side are in desperate need of a right-back, with Ralph Hasenhuttl even playing midfielder Stuart Armstrong in the position against Everton recently – neither Yan Valery or Cedric Soares are outstanding candidates for the role.

In that respect, Walker-Peters would be a necessary addition, right?

Well, judging by the statistics, not exactly.

As you can see, the 22-year-old really isn’t that much better than Cedric or Valery – two players who have contributed to what is currently the worst defence in the Premier League with 31 goals conceded in 13 games.

While Walker-Peters does admittedly win more tackles than the Southampton duo, he makes the least clearances per game out of the three of them and registers the same interceptions per game as Valery, with just one.

The Tottenham academy graduate also records slightly more dribbles per game than Valery, albeit only 0.3 more.

Quite simply, the bottom line is that Walker-Peters really isn’t a substantially better option than what Hasenhuttl currently has at his disposal, and for that reason, his rejection of Southampton’s interest in him really isn’t that much of a blow to the Saints.

There are far better options out there, and even if no new right-back does arrive at St Mary’s, the stats suggest they’d be better off sticking with Valery and Cedric rather than just add another average option to their ranks.

علاء غاب عن صفوف الزمالك، في آخر مباراتين للفريق أمام طلائع الجيش والمصري، في بطولة الدوري.

Kemar Roofe has opened up on his decision to leave Leeds in an interview with The Daily Mail, detailing exactly why he made the switch to Anderlecht.

What’s he said?

With Roofe’s contract at Leeds expiring a year before his sale, the club took the decision to ship him on, rather than renewing the terms of his deal at Elland Road.

However, in what was one of the most intriguing transfers of the summer window, he switched west Yorkshire for Belgium and the purple of Anderlecht.

Joining the new management team with Vincent Kompany at the helm, he’s now playing alongside the likes of Samir Nasri and Nacer Chadli.

Since arriving at the club, he’s gone on to score five goals in just nine games.

Speaking to The Daily Mail about why he wanted to move, Roofe said:

“I came here to win things. My aims have always been to win titles and cups, to qualify for European football and to play in the Europa League or the Champions League.

“That’s one of the main reasons I came to Anderlecht rather than join one of the clubs in the Premier League who were interested in me. It can be the perfect platform for me to reach my goals.

“When I got the phone call from Vincent Kompany, I couldn’t say no. I’ve grown up watching him in the Premier League, an iconic captain, winning titles, dominating games at centre back.”

Leeds still missing him

The Whites have been struggling for goals this term, scoring just 28 times in 19 outings. That’s fewer than everyone in the top six besides Nottingham Forest.

It’s evident that it’s an area that could hold Leeds back in their quest for promotion and it was a real concern when Patrick Bamford went ten games without finding the back of the net.

Couple that with Eddie Nketiah’s injury and there was every reason to be concerned about their success in the opposition’s penalty area.

Bamford is still inconsistent so deciding to sell their top goal scorer from 2018/19 last summer wasn’t the wisest of decisions.

Even if Roofe determined he couldn’t say no to Kompany, trying to thrash out an improved contract could have changed the direction of Leeds’ season.

If they miss out on Premier League status because of a lack of goals, they may well rue their judgement.

وأعلن إنريكي قائمة مكونة من 24 لاعبًا فقط بدلًا من العدد المسموح به وهو 26 لاعبًا، ولم يظهر اسم راموس بها ولكن تم استدعاء مدافع مانشستر سيتي، إيمريك لابورت، للمرة الأولى.

وكشف مدرب إسبانيا سبب غياب راموس في مؤتمره الصحفي منذ قليل، وقال: “كانت قائمة سهلة وصعبة في نفس الوقت، لكنني اخترت 24 لاعبًا بدلًا من 26 ليعلم الجميع أن لديهم فرصة للمشاركة في المباريات، سيرجيو ليس متواجدًا بها لأنه لم يشارك بشكل كافً هذا الموسم مع ريال مدريد”.

وتابع: “تحدثت معه بالأمس وأبلغته بالقرار، كان قرارًا صعبًا بالتأكيد وأوصيته بأن يكون أنانيًا ويفكر في نفسه من أجل التعافي التام من الإصابة”.

وأضاف: “استدعاء لابورت لا علاقة له بغياب راموس على الإطلاق، إيمريك لاعب رائع وفي أحد أفضل الفرق في العالم (مانشستر سيتي)، لا يجب علينا ربط الأمرين ببعضهما البعض”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “قرار راموس مدروس للغاية، تحدثت بالفعل معه في فترة الاستراحة في مباراة ريال مدريد وإشبيلية وسألته عن حالته البدنية، وأكن له كل الاحترام والتقدير لكني أعتمد على أفضل اللاعبين لتمثيل منتخب إسبانيا في يورو 2020”.

واستمر: “أي قرار سنتخذه مع راموس سيتم انتقاده، أتمنى ألا يؤثر هذا على منتخب إسبانيا في البطولة”.

وعن عدم استدعاء أي لاعب من ريال مدريد: “لا اختار القائمة من أجل إسعاد شخص أو آخر، راموس وكارفاخال هما من كان يمكن استدعائهما من ريال مدريد لكنهم لا يشاركان للإصابة”.

وأكمل: “استدعاء راموس الأخير في التوقف الماضي لا علاقة له باستبعاده الآن، لكنه لعب الشوط الأول أمام كوسوفو ثم لسوء الحظ أصيب والسبب وراء عدم اختياره هو ابتعاده عن المباريات مع ريال مدريد بعد إصابته الأخيرة”.

وأتم تصريحاته: “لن أنتظر راموس حتى الموعد النهائي لتقديم القوائم النهائية (1 يونيو)، لقد كنت واضحًا بشأن القرار ولكني قد أقوم باستبدال لاعب أو آخر بسبب الإصابة أو فيروس كورونا والاستعانة بمدافعين شباب من منتخب تحت 21 عامًا”.

Many Villa fans have taken pride in the way their talisman has performed since playing an integral role in their play-off winning campaign.

The 24-year-old’s transition has been a seamless one, as signified by the number of goals he has been directly involved in, while also averaging 1.3 tackles, 2.7 tackles and 1.7 key passes per game.

With this considered, there has been great enjoyment from some fans in reminding those of other clubs that they have been underestimating him.

However, there is also annoyance there for many within their fanbase, who feel that he has been unjustly ignored by Gareth Southgate this season.

Especially after discovering he has more goal contributions than any other English midfielder in the league, they feel his talents should be recognised with a call up to the national team.

The Villa man represented England U21s seven times, scoring twice, but is still yet to make his debut for the senior side.

The 19-year-old sensation has been in irresistible form for his club this season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions across just 21 games.

Eight of those goals have come in five Champions League appearances and included a strike against Liverpool and a brace versus Napoli.

Juventus have already tabled an offer for the teenager, per the report, and are ready to pay him €3m (£2.5m) per season in addition to a transfer fee of around €30m (£25.2m).

Spurs, though, are also said to hold an interest, though they are reevaluating their pursuit following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager.

How good is Haaland?

The statistics suggest that he’s fantastic but he has never enjoyed a season like this before.

He scored 12 goals in 25 outings for Molde in the Norwegian league in 2018 but that is the only comparable run of form he has had to the purple patch he is currently enjoying at Salzburg.

As such, the sample size is simply too small for Spurs to dive headfirst into a bidding war and one feels that they should prioritise their own teenagers before buying some more.

Troy Parrott, for example, is just 17 and is clearly highly-rated by the club, as he made his Premier League debut at the weekend against Burnley.

He has scored a hatful of goals at youth level and is the current top scorer in the UEFA Youth League with six strikes.

Before spending a chunk of change on Haaland, Spurs should merely promote Parrott to the senior squad and let him become the back-up that Harry Kane needs in the first-team, given that he is the only out-and-out striker in the squad.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have reacted to a link with an experienced striker.

صحيفة “ميرور” الإنجليزية، أفادت أن مدرب حراس مانشستر يونايتد إيميليو ألفاريس، أعطى دي خيا ورقة مكتوب بها الزوايا التي يختارها لاعبو فياريال للتسديد.

وكشفت الصحيفة عن الورقة، والتي أثبتت أن أول 4 ركلات ترجيح بالفعل تم تسديدهم في الأماكن الموجودة في الورقة التي أعطاها إيميليو إلى دي خيا، لكن الحارس الإسباني تجاهلها، وكان يتجه في الزاوية الأخرى.

Noel Whelan has suggested Tottenham Hotspur should send Troy Parrott on loan next season, in an exclusive with Football Insider.

The former Leeds United forward feels Parrott is currently being wasted at Spurs as he has sat on the sidelines for the majority of the season so far.

Appearing on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Charlton assistant manager Johnnie Jackson recently revealed the Addicks were keen to sign the youngster on loan back in January, and added he will not be short of suitors as the transfer window approaches.

The 18-year-old has made just four appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side, averaging merely five minutes per game in the Premier League up until now.

Whelan has urged the Lilywhites to sort out a loan for the Irishman if they cannot guarantee him substantial game time, as the club are in danger of hindering his development as a player on-and-off the pitch.

Speaking to assistant editor Russell Edge, the pundit insisted “he hasn’t been given a chance and he needs football, he needs to go out there on loan, he needs to be playing at a very good, decent standard and learning about himself and his game.

“He needs a full season at a club. If he’s not going to be playing at Tottenham, he needs a full season to bed himself in, have a pre-season with them and know where he’s going to be for the duration of that campaign.

“He’s got an amazing bit of talent, not just for Tottenham’s benefit but for the national side as well. They’re going to want somebody that’s going to be filling in to that position, someone that’s going to be playing regular football to get the best out of him.

“If he’s not going to be used by Jose Mourinho then he’s got to be put out on loan, given that chance to progress in his future and in his game and make him a man, because right now that’s the only way he’s going to find out about himself as a person and as a player.

“By going through these ecstatic times when he’s had a great game and scored a goal but also find out about his character where he’s had a bad game, missed some chances and lost – how can he bounce back? It’s all part of a process to become the complete player.”

As it stands, it is hard to argue with Whelan here, as on the face of it sending Parrott out on loan would surely benefit Spurs in the future.

The teenager has trained regularly with the first team, meaning he has missed out on valuable minutes with the U23 squad as a result. However, he has still managed to score 6 goals and create 1 assist in only 4 games in the UEFA Youth League at the time of writing.

Reports suggest the Tottenham hierarchy expects big things from the Irish international in the years ahead, but he needs to be playing more consistently if he is to achieve his full potential. A spell at a lower league club could give him the experience he needs to come back and challenge for a spot in the senior squad.
