The international break couldn’t have come at a worse time for Neil Lennon.

As the biggest game of his newest reign as Celtic manager approaches on Sunday, the gaffer’s witnessing an unnecessary defensive crisis all the sudden.

After Kieran Tierney recent pulled out of Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifiers, Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig also suffered knocks in their respective games for Belgium and Norway. With the Old Firm derby now only days away, it’ll be a race against time for Celtic’s defensive core to recover in time.

While the players will themselves will obviously be doing all they can in regaining fitness to provide befitting revenge to Rangers, rushing too hard could further aggravate their injuries. Indeed, without these three, Lennon could be facing some big problems, which is quite the conundrum.

Steven Gerrard’s side posses a scary attacking line, despite their current struggles and a loss at home might not blow the title race open, but would see the campaign end somewhat sourly.

Boyata’s been vital to maintaining a strong defensive core for the Hoops, while Tierney’s and Lustig’s knowledgable figures are required to keep Rangers’ menacing wing-play in check.

Lennon can only afford to pray to the footballing gods to help his crucial defenders recover before the crunch encounter. If they fail to do so, not being able to dominate the game won’t be Celtic’s only headache.

The Gers might actually end up running riot at Parkhead and pulling off an unthinkable double to dent Lennon’s plan of extending his managerial reign.

Tottenham quite clearly need a replacement for Mousa Dembele and Marcelo Brozovic is that man. He’s creative, has great vision… and he’s Croatian. Their last midfield magician from that country wasn’t bad, was he?

White Hart Lane adored Luka Modric when he donned the famous white strip, and his move to Real Madrid in 2012 seemed like a natural progression for what has been the greatest playmaker of 2018. Now at their new home, the North London outfit could do with someone like the Ballon d’Or winner to replace Dembele and Brozovic is pretty close.

He’s played for Inter Milan 26 times this season, playing 2,208 minutes. His two goals and one assist really don’t tell the whole story and Spurs are interested, according to Calciomercato who also say the Milan club are ‘awaiting offers’. Indeed, bitter rivals Arsenal are reportedly sniffing around too, so Spurs should make a move early.

He’s 26-years-old and that’s the perfect age for Mauricio Pochettino’s major signings this summer. Literally ideal. That’s because, clearly, Spurs have youth in the ranks already and it seems it’s getting to the point of now or never for the manager, so he needs investment and then success or one of the more successful clubs will snap him up.

It’s the perfect set-up to sign him. Hugely experienced but young enough to adapt to Pochettino’s demanding system, you supporters reading this would be in for a real treat.

Spurs’ clear attacking talent would be able to feed off Brozovic’s vision and defenders will then have to look after Christian Eriksen (as it stands, anyway) and the Croatian, making an attack virtually impossible to stop. So many attacking outlets and points of reference, it’d be hugely exciting.

Next season, Spurs need to win their first trophy since 2008 and this is the man to push them over the line.

Investment is key in summer, but the money has to be spent in the right areas, on the right talent. Modric was a magician at White Hart Lane, Brozovic would be that man at Spurs’ new ground.

أعلن لاعب فريق إنتر ميلان، أليساندرو باستوني، عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع إنستجرام تعافيه من فيروس كورونا المستجد، كوفيد 19.

وكان المدافع الإيطالي قد اُصيب بالفيروس المستجد قبل 10 أيام.

وخضع باستوني لمسحة جديدة حيث أكد، عبر يومياته بحسابه الشخصي بموقع إنستجرام، أن النتيجة جاءت سلبية.

ومن المتوقع ألا يشارك باستوني في مباراة الغد المرتقبة بين فريقي ميلان وإنتر ميلان، في الدوري الإيطالي.

اعترف جناح الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي ريال مدريد، ماركو أسينسيو، بأنه كان قريبًا من الانضمام إلى صفوف برشلونة قبل الانتقال إلى الملكي.

وظهر أسينسيو متألقًا مع فريق ريال مايوركا خلال موسم 2013/2014، وهو ما أشعل الصراع على ضمه بين برشلونة وريال مدريد حتى حسم الأخير الصفقة.

وتحدث الإسباني عن السبب في تفضيل ريال مدريد على برشلونة قبل 6 سنوات في تصريحات نقلتها صحيفة “ماركا”، وقال: “لقد كان بإمكاني الانتقال إلى برشلونة”.

وتابع: “لكن الاهتمام المذهل الذي أظهره ريال مدريد منذ البداية هو من جعلني أفضله في النهاية، كان من المستحيل أن أقول لا لهذا النادي الكبير”.

وأبرز أسينسيو إمكانياته الفنية،، وقال: “أجد نفسي قويًا بدنيًا وسريعًا”.

وعن إذا ما كان قد فكر في الرحيل عن ريال مدريد: “هذه الفكرة لم تخطر على بالي مطلقًا، لأنني أسعى دائمًا للنجاح مع هذا النادي على الرغم من اهتمام العديد من الأندية”.

Leeds fans haven’t held back in showing their disdain towards Izzy Brown after Phil Hay shared his stats for the season.

Hay Tweeted: “Izzy Brown’s first-team stats for Leeds United read one touch of the ball, one yellow card and nine minutes on the pitch,” and fans have been livid since reading the numbers.

Brown’s solitary appearance came in Leeds’ 1-0 loss to QPR, coming off the bench in the 85th minute. The 22-year-old has only made the matchday squad for Leeds seven times this season, highlighting the extent of his injury problems.

Brown injured his ACL during a loan spell with Brighton last season, an injury which he carried when he joined Leeds in the summer. Brown suffered a further injury setback with a hamstring injury delaying his return to action further.

Brown was expected to be one of the key players at Elland Road this season after two good seasons out on loan at Huddersfield and Brighton.

Unfortunately for the Chelsea loanee, it hasn’t worked out that way and fans are finally losing their patience with the midfielder and have been criticising his fitness levels this season.

It was a result that would have pleased most Arsenal fans, but in the back of their minds, they know two goals might not just be enough to progress.

The Gunners 2-0 win was an uplifting result and performance for the Gunners after last weekend’s loss to Everton, but with the advantage in their court Arsenal now must go to Napoli next week and do something plenty of supporters are not confident about, getting a result.

Arsenal’s away form is well documented this season. They’re the only team in the Premier League not to keep a clean sheet on the road, and performances drop massively whenever Unai Emery’s side play away from the Emirates Stadium.

With the Gunners heading to the San Paulo for the return leg, fans and players know it is going to be a difficult test. Playing in front of 60,000 passionate Neapolitan’s who will spend 120 minutes constantly harassing and jeering you sounds like a daunting task for Arsenal, but that doesn’t mean that game, and the series, is already over.

The Gunners have what it takes to get something in Napoli, we have seen Arsenal go away to places in the past needing a big result and incredibly getting one, especially in Europe, and there’s a real possibility this can happen in Naples next week.

Indeed, securing a result away from home against Napoli may just send fans into a frenzy.

Knowing that they already have a 2-0 lead and knocking out Napoli could set Arsenal up for their first piece of European silverware in nearly 30 years will motivate the team to perform in Italy, and it is this belief that will carry the Gunners over the finishing line next week.

وقال بادجي خلال تصريحات علي القناة الرسمية للنادي الأهلي على اليوتيوب: “أعتقد أنه لأمر جيد أن نصل للنهائي بعد أن غاب الأهلي عنه في السنوات الماضية، نحن جميعًا سعداء فنحن هنا فريق واحد”.

وتابع: “نرغب كثيرًا أن يتسنى للجماهير فرصة حضور المباراة النهائية لتشجعينا حتى نفوز باللقب إن شاء الله”.

روى رمضان صبحي لاعب بيراميدز الحالي تفاصيل رحيله عن الأهلي وانتقاله إلى بيراميدز بعد انتهاء إعارته من هدرسفيلد الإنجليزي خلال الفترة السابقة. وانتقل رمضان صبحي إلى صفوف بيراميدز خلال الفترة الماضية من صفوف هدرسفيلد، في صفقة أثارت جدلًا جماهيريًا كبيرًا.

وقال رمضان صبحي أثناء استضافته ببرنامج “الحكاية” المذاع على قناة “إم بي سي مصر”: “نادر تواصل معي وقال لي إنه لا توجد أي عروض مقدمة لي ولا يوجد غير الأهلي، وطلبت من أمير توفيق أن ينتظر حتى أفتح خطوط التواصل مع الجميع لتلقي العروض”.

وتابع: “بدأ يتم تصدير الأمر للجماهير أنني سأوقع للأهلي، وهذا وضع ضغط عليّ، وكنت أقول لـ أمير كيف لهذا الحديث أن يخرج للإعلام بأنني سأوقع للأهلي وهذا لم يحدث، وأنا لست على ذمة النادي في الوقت الحالي”.

وواصل: “استمر هذا الأمر 10 أيام وبدأت أشعر بالانزعاج، الجميع كان يبحث عن مصلحته فقط، ويصدر أمور غير صحيحة للإعلام، ويضعني تحت ضغط كبير”.

وأردف: “علي صقر وكيل اللاعبين تحدث مع هاني حتحوت أنه سيجلب لي عرضًا من الخليج قبل الرد على الأهلي بيومين، وقتها بيراميدز عندما سمع أن الوكيل يبحث لي عن عرض تواصلوا معه فورا”.

واستأنف: “في هذا الوقت تحدثت مع أمير توفيق وقلت له إن بيراميدز سيفتح باب المفاوضات وسأستمع إليهم، فقال لي (هل ستذهب؟) قلت له (سأستمع لهم)”.

وتابع: “أكثر ما أزعجني أن الكل كان يبحث عن مصلحته، ويوجد أشخاص في النادي يحاولون تحسين صورتهم على حسابي أنا”.

وأضاف: “صليت استخارة وشعرت أنني سأرتاح إذا انتقلت لـ بيراميدز، والأمور لم تستغرق سوى 48 ساعة فقط، وبعدما أنهيت كل شئ أول شخص اتصلت به لأعلمه الخبر كان محمود الخطيب ولكنه لم يرد عليّ”.

وواصل: “بعدها اتصلت بأمير توفيق وقلت له أريدك أن تبلغ الخطيب بأنني بنسبة 80% سأوقع لبيراميدز، وأن يبلغه بشيئين في غاية الأهمية بأن التسريبات التي تقول إنني وقعت مع بيراميدز منذ وقت طويل غير صحيحة، والثاني أنني لم أتقاض أي مقابل مادي حتى الآن”.

وأكمل: “ليس معنى أن الأهلي لو عرض مبلغًا أكبر كنت سأبقى، أنا لا أبحث عن الأموال، لو كنت أفكر في المال كنت استمريت في إنجلترا”.

واختتم: “محمود الخطيب وعدلي القيعي قالا على الهواء أنني ضحيت بأشياء كثيرة من أجل الأهلي، و(بيبو) كان يقول لي إنه يعلم أنني جئت من انجلترا من أجل الفريق رغم أنني كنت أتقاضى 5 أضعاف ما اتقاضاه معه”.

After such a positive start to life at Manchester United for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Norwegian now finds himself right in the middle of his first tough spell in charge following the 1-0 defeat to Barcelona at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

The Red Devils may not have been the favourites on the night but they at least would have been hoping for a draw or to score against their La Liga opponents, but it wasn’t to be.

Luke Shaw’s own goal proved to be the difference and United now surely face an uphill task to progress to the semi-final stage despite what happened against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round.

Four defeats in their previous five fixtures in all competitions is hardly great ahead of hosting West Ham United on Saturday, and Solskjaer should have some major concerns.

Finding a suitable formation

Solskjaer has chopped and changed formations in recent times having enjoyed a lot of success with the 4-3-3 and the 4-4-2 diamond when he first arrived at Old Trafford, and it’s fair to say it hasn’t worked out.

The decision to go with a 3-5-2 system against Barca with Shaw playing as a left-sided centre-back was nothing short of disastrous, and it was only after he put through his own net that the formation changed.

The former Molde boss also went with a similar tactic in the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers previously, and it is clear to see he shouldn’t use it again given how many players weren’t in their preferred position.

Solskjaer needs to deploy a system that works and suits his team if United are to get back to winning ways against the Irons.

Players losing form

Again, when Solskjaer first came in loads of players – such as Paul Pogba – found form, but it is a different story now with those same individuals failing to make the same impact they were before.

Pogba is one example of that and so is Ashley Young, while Romelu Lukaku was also way off colour against Barcelona having improved in more recent times.

Their 46-year-old manager now has a choice to make; drop those that aren’t performing or persist with them and hope the results turn around.

Young in particular will be lucky to start against the Hammers given his disastrous display on Wednesday, with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio ready to punish him.
