A “quality” Liverpool player is now reportedly in talks with another club about a move there this summer, with the situation said to be “gaining momentum” currently.

The latest on Isak to Liverpool

The Reds’ pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the big talking point at the moment, as the Premier League champions look to get an incredible piece of transfer business over the line.

Liverpool have already seen a first bid of £110m rejected by the Magpies, and while a second offer is yet to be tabled, it may well happen once Newcastle have signed a replacement.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko appears to be their priority target to lead the line instead of Isak, but the Slovenian now has to choose between them and Manchester United.

From a Liverpool perspective, they will clearly hope that Sesko opts to move to St James’ Park, in terms of aiding their efforts to bring in the Swede this summer. If that does happen, it will help pave the way for other Reds attackers to move on before the new season gets underway, and a key update has emerged regarding one such player.

Liverpool star in talks over Saudi Pro League move

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is in talks with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal about a summer move, with an Andfield exit “gaining momentum”.

Assuming the Reds do end up signing Isak, or an alternative for that matter, this summer feels like the right time for Nunez to leave, even though Jurgen Klopp spoke positively about him in the past.

“He loves to play for this team together with these boys and has quality coming out of his ears, to be honest. Is he at his absolute peak in general? Not now for us. But can he develop? Yes. Is he a threat all the time? Yes.”

The £140,000-a-week Nunez is a popular figure among the fans, due to his character and work ethic, but the brutal reality is that his finishing is still erratic after three years at Liverpool, as is his all-round game.

تشيلسي سوف يستضيف نظيره ليفربول مساء اليوم السبت على ملعب ستامفورد بريدج، وذلك في إطار قمة الجولة السابعة من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ويدخل ليفربول لقاء اليوم بهدف تحقيق الفوز، خصوصًا بعد الهزيمتين المتتاليتين التي منى بهم الريدز أمام كريستال بالاس 2-1 يوم السبت الماضي في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، ثم أمام جالطة سراي بنتيجة 1-0 في دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وأضاف جرافنبيرخ في حديثه: ”بالطبع الخسارة مرتين ليست بالأمر الجيد، لكن ما قلته هو أننا سنبذل قصارى جهدنا للفوز وسنستعد جيدًا ونبذل قصارى جهدنا، هذا هو كل ما يمكننا فعله”.

وأوضح: “أحيانًا تسير الأمور في صالحنا وأحيانًا لا، هذه المرة لم تكن كذلك لكننا خلقنا العديد من الفرص ضد جالطة سراي ولم نستغلها، لكنني متأكد من أننا سنفعل في المستقبل وأعلم أننا سنخرج من هذا الموقف بكل تأكيد”.

Nottingham Forest have now submitted a formal £25m+ offer for an “elite” midfielder, who has already struck an agreement on personal terms, according to a report.

Forest stepping up midfielder pursuit after Europa League verdict

The Tricky Trees have controversially been admitted to next season’s Europa League, as a result of issues surrounding multi-club ownership at Crystal Palace, with Eagles chairman Steve Parish putting out a strong statement after the verdict.

Parish said: “The decision by Uefa and followed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport shows that sporting merit is rendered meaningless. It appears that certain clubs, organisations and individuals have a unique privilege and power.”

Parish has previously suggested that Forest are to blame for Palace’s demotion, but Evangelos Marinakis is unlikely to care too much, given that his side are now set to embark on a Europa League campaign next season.

Consequently, Nottingham Forest may now also be better-placed to attract some exciting new players, and a new midfielder is of particular interest, with Manchester City’s James McAtee emerging as a major target.

Not only are Nuno Espirito Santo’s side eager to sign an attacking midfielder, but they are also looking to bring in a player capable of operating in a deeper role, with it recently being revealed they are in active talks over a deal for AC Milan’s Yunus Musah.

There has now been a new update on Forest’s pursuit of Musah, with a report from TEAMtalk revealing they have now tabled an official offer of £25.9m including bonuses, which is close to the Italian club’s asking price.

Milan are looking to hold out for just over £30m, which means the two clubs aren’t too far apart, and should a fee be agreed, personal terms could be a formality, as an agreement in principle has already been reached on a deal until 2030.

With a move to Napoli now off the cards, the midfielder is open to a move to the Premier League, and the Tricky Trees could even slightly increase their bid to get a deal over the line.

"Elite" Musah could excel at the City Ground

The 47-cap USA star clearly has all the attributes of a top midfielder, having received very high praise from football talent scout Jacek Kulig for his performances at international level.

Still only 22-years-old, the New-York born midfielder already has plenty of experience at the top level, making 80 appearances for AC Milan, while also featuring seven times in the Champions League last season.

With Forest set to embark on a Europa League campaign next season, Nuno could do with bringing in players who have experience in big matches, and Musah certainly fits the bill.

Josh Hazlewood is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series against India after suffering a calf strain during warm-ups on the fourth day in Brisbane meaning Scott Boland will be set to return to the side for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.Hazlewood, who returned in this game after missing Adelaide with a side strain, was late entering the field at the start of play on Tuesday, having spent time talking with head coach Andrew McDonald and physio Nick Jones, then looked laboured when he came into the attack, barely topping 131kph which included a wide long hop first ball that was cut away by KL Rahul.During the drinks break which followed that over, Hazlewood was part of a lengthy conversation with Pat Cummins, Steven Smith and the physio before he walked off the field.Cricket Australia initially said he had “calf awareness” and he went for scans which confirmed the severity of the injury.”He’s pretty despondent,” Daniel Vettori, Australia’s assistant coach, said. “Felt it this morning in warm-ups, gave it a good crack, it’s just unfortunate for him to come back, put so much effort after another injury with the side strain, then to pick up a calf strain here, particularly in these circumstances is really tough on him.”Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott have been part of the squad in this series, when they were initially called up as cover in Adelaide after Hazlewood was ruled out, and would likely head the queue of replacements. Leeds United set to welcome Dominic Calvert-Lewin

After Lukas Nmecha joined earlier this summer, Leeds are set to sign free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin after the expiration of his contract at Everton ahead of the competitive season.

Of course, there is a scenario where he could make his debut in an emotionally-charged encounter against the Toffees on Monday, where Daniel Farke will want his side to impose themselves at Elland Road to get off to a flying start.

Finally, Leeds have added some Premier League experience to their strikeforce after Farke’s demand to secure more attacking reinforcements, and there could well be more to come if his words after last weekend’s draw against AC Milan are anything to go by.

He stated: “In comparison to our Championship squad, we have not improved the offence. To have a squad capable to survive in the top flight, we need to strengthen. In offence, we need some top-class signings, not just numbers.”

Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss could also join Leeds to provide an element of creativity. Nevertheless, the Whites are far from the only club in the race for the Moroccan international.

With the campaign now here and excitement brewing at Elland Road, it will be up to the 49ers to deliver on Farke’s needs to ensure the Yorkshire outfit are well-placed to retain their top-flight status, something that could be made easier if they can recruit their latest target.

Despite being a peripheral figure at the start of 2024/25, he ended the campaign with a respectable tally of 12 goals from 35 appearances as the Toffees secured a comfortable finish.

Eight of his strikes came inside 20 Premier League outings, meaning Leeds could inherit someone with a strike-rate of one goal every 2.5 matches in the top-flight, taking some of the burden off Joel Piroe, Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin, once the latter is officially announced.

While Beto’s arrival would leave Leeds with quite a few striking options, there is no doubt he would only serve to improve their chances of staying in the Premier League.
