Em entrevista para a TV oficial do clube, o paraguaio falou de como tem se sentido bem, e o que ele tem feito para se manter jogando sem ser preservado pela comissão técnica. Segundo o capitão palmeirense, tudo isso é fruto também do trabalho da fisiologia.

-Trabalho sempre na recuperação, hoje no futebol é muito importante. Também tem um grupo de pessoas que trabalha aqui que nos ajuda muito: preparadores físicos, fisiologistas, médicos, fisioterapeutas. Faço certinho e está dando resultado, estou bem. Para se ter noção da regularidade de Gómez, ele é atleta alviverde com mais minutos em campo neste ano, com 2.076 no total divididos em 23 partidas pelo clube. Aliás, ele é o único que ultrapassou a barreira dos 2 mil minutos. O mais próximo é Weverton com 1.920.

Mas nesta sexta-feira, foi dia de o “Super Gómez” ser celebrado pelo restante dos colegas, já que fez aniversário, completou 29 anos, e levou a tradicional “ovada”, a qual também é tradicional no Paraguai.

Newcastle United lost for the first time in 2025 as AFC Bournemouth blew the Magpies away at St James Park this afternoon.

The 4-1 win for the Cherries means Eddie Howe’s men might slip outside the top four in the Premier League depending on other results, and it ends the club’s nine-match winning streak.

Two Justin Kluivert goals had the away side in the lead at halftime, and he completed his hat-trick during the dying embers, before Milos Kerkez scored the fourth to seal a stunning win.

Several Newcastle players failed to perform as they have done in recent weeks, most notably Alexander Isak, who had a poor game.

Prior to the game, the Swedish marksman had scored in eight successive Premier League matches for the Toon, including goals against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool.

Isak completed just 18 passes throughout the game, while winning only three of his seven ground duels contested and lost possession 11 times in what was a rare underwhelming display by the former Real Sociedad man.

Of course, not everyone is expected to be at the highest level every single game, but Howe would have anticipated a livelier performance.

It wasn’t just Isak, however, with defender Valentino Livramento also struggling to contain a vibrant Bournemouth attack throughout the game.

The right-back featured for the entire 90 minutes, moving from the right side of the defence to the left after Lewis Hall was subbed off, taking 54 touches during the game.

He was poor on both flanks, however, as Livramento was dribbled past three times, made two tackles, won just one of his aerial duels, and lost the ball 11 times against the Cherries.

Going forward, he wasn’t much better. Indeed, the defender delivered three crosses during the game, but none were accurate, while he succeeded with just one dribble along with failing to make a key pass or create a big chance.

Overall, it wasn’t a display that Howe would have been happy about and he must now ruthlessly ditch the defender from the line-up against Southampton next time out.

Could this see a return to the starting XI for Kieran Trippier? The Englishman has played just 16 matches this term for the Magpies, with only seven of those coming in the starting XI, and the manager must now drop Livramento to bring the experienced ace back in.

Despite this limited game time, the 34-year-old has succeeded with 50% of his dribbles in the Premier League, while averaging an 86% pass success rate and recovering 2.3 balls per game.

The heavy defeat today will force Howe into making some changes for the clash against the Saints. Judging by his performance, Livramento might find himself warming the bench.

Being a “star attraction” at the 2022 Commonwealth Games will give a fillip to the ICC’s ambitions of being included in “all other types of multi-sport games”, mainly the Olympic Games, Geoff Allardice, the ICC chief executive, said in Birmingham on Wednesday.”The idea of being here in Birmingham for the annual [ICC] conference is to celebrate cricket’s involvement in the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 24 years [when a men’s 50-over event was held, in Kuala Lumpur] with the women’s T20 event,” Allardice said. “Judging on the reaction of the players, they all are very excited and enjoying the experience of being around the top athletes from other sports.”We have declared our ambition to be involved in the Olympic Games. We are assisting the LA 2028 organisers and providing any information will help their assessment of different sports with regards to addition to the Olympic programme. Still, good competition, especially in the format perceived to be the most useful for reaching new audiences, could only help cricket’s ambitions of being a truly global sport.

وكان محمد صبحي تعرض للإصابة، خلال مباراة فريقه أمام سيراميكا كليوباترا، وتم تغييره، إلا أن الكاميرات أظهرته هو يلقي قميصه في الأرض غاضبًا، ومنفعلًا بشدة.

وقال صبحي عبر حسابه على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي “إنستجرام”، :”أنا أحترم كيان نادي الزمالك وأتشرف أنني لاعب في نادي الزمالك العظيم والكبير”.

وأضاف: “أنا لم أقصد من بعيد أو قريب الإساءة للنادي ولا لجماهيره ولا لتيشيرت نادي الزمالك العظيم”.

وواصل: “كل ما في الموضوع إنني في الفترة الأخيرة، كنت أركز بشدة في التدريبات وأعمل على نفسي باجتهاد، عندما شاركت في مباراة سيراميكا كليوباترا تعرضت للإصابة، هذا كان سبب حزني”.

Manchester United’s academy is one thing that will never fail them. The Red Devils have produced some exceptional players over the years, going back as far as the legendary Busby Babes. In the glory days of Sir Alex Ferguson, the Class of ‘92 rose to fame, and, more recently, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay have flown the Carrington flag.

Nowadays, Ruben Amorim’s squad includes Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and, more recently, Toby Collyer, who have become important first-team players at Old Trafford. They are blessed with academy talent, which has been the case for decades.

Incredibly, the Red Devils might battle it out towards the end of the transfer window to resign another former academy star.

The player in question here is Lille and England international midfield Angel Gomes. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the French club, and it could leave the door open for a potential return to the Premier League.

At least, that is according to a report from Caught Offside. They claim that United ‘have thrown their hat into the ring’ in an attempt to re-sign Gomes before the January transfer window closes on Monday. A price is not clear at this stage, but Gomes’ contract expires next summer, so the fee could be fairly cheap.

However, they are not believed to be the only side targeting a move for the Englishman. London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have already eyed up a move, as have fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

He is also of interest to German sides Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, ensuring it will be a battle for the Red Devils, who may need to move quickly – as per the report.

Why Gomes would be a good signing

Should the Red Devils get the deal for Gomes done, it could be an excellent signing. Before looking at his current season with Lille, let’s address his United career to date. He played ten times for his boyhood club, making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2017, becoming the youngest United debutant in over 60 years.

This season, the now 24-year-old has been an important player for Lille, although has struggled with injuries. He has played 18 times for the French side this term, scoring twice and grabbing an assist, with one strike coming in the Champions League against Feyenoord in the 6-1 win.

It would be a happy homecoming for Gomes, who has changed a lot since leaving Old Trafford. He is incredibly versatile in midfield, able to play as a number ten, or even as a defensive midfielder.

Indeed, that is similar to another United academy graduate in the current squad, Mainoo. The 19-year-old has been making waves since first breaking into the team in 2023/24, and could now be considered a key player in Amorim’s side.

Like Gomes, an extremely press-resistant and progressive player, Mainoo can play in several positions in midfield. Most recently, he thrived as a number ten on Thursday night in the Europa League but can play deeper, too.

The pair are statistically similar too, and their in-possession qualities are highlighted by the FBref statistics. For example, over the past two seasons, Gomes averages seven progressive passes and 1.79 progressive carries compared to Mainoo’s 3.24 progressive passes and 1.23 progressive carries per game.

Singing Gomes could be an excellent piece of business for United. Their academy graduate, once described as an “unbelievably gifted player” by football statistician Statman Dave, would add quality depth to their midfield, and excellent versatility just like Mainoo brings.

For United to have two versatile midfielders in their squad, capable of playing as a six, an eight or a ten, would make things unpredictable for opponents and certainly a handy for Amorim.

Yorkshire left to rue first-innings failures as gutsy defence of 162 falls just short

Essex made heavy weather of chasing 162 either side of tea but Shane Snater’s aggressive unbeaten 65 secured a thrilling one-wicket LV= Insurance County Championship win over Yorkshire inside three days at Headingley.Essex took eight wickets during the first half of the day to bowl Yorkshire out for 252 in their second innings, including three apiece for leg-spinner Matt Critchley and fast bowler Jamie Porter (four for 64).But they later slipped from 51 for two to 64 for six in a crazy 13-ball evening spell, in which veteran seamer Steve Patterson struck three times for the hosts.Patterson, who has not been offered a new contract beyond this season, following 17 years of first-team cricket, finished with a brilliant five for 46, including the ninth wicket with the scores level.But Snater heaved Ben Coad through midwicket to secure 20 points for his side – their sixth win of the campaign.Snater, who also hit 46 in the first innings, successfully turned Essex defence into attack amidst a nail-biting finish. Essex are now four points behind Lancashire with two to play.Battling Yorkshire, meanwhile, lost for the fourth time this season and are not yet out of relegation danger after only taking three points.
