Manchester United have highlighted Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as an alternative to Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard, as a reliable journalist has revealed that a deal for the latter is not yet at an advanced stage.

Harry Maguire looks like he could be on his way out before the end of the ongoing transfer window having agreed a £30m deal to join West Ham United, so should he depart, Erik ten Hag will need to enter the market to find a suitable replacement.

Pavard appears to be the preferred candidate having already been the subject of a rejected approach from the Red Devils, and despite the player being keen to join, there’s no sign yet of an incoming second proposal which means the boss has to assess other options, which is where the 23-year-old comes into play.

Writing in his column for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Man United have placed Guehi on a shortlist of centre-backs that they could look to swoop for should a deal for Pavard fail to materialise. He said:

“I’m told that Man United could get Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich for less than the reported €35m (£30m). This is the feeling at the Manchester club as everybody is waiting for the clubs to discuss a fee. At the moment, the deal is not at that stage yet. Pavard would be a replacement for Harry Maguire but we are still waiting for Maguire to agree personal terms with West Ham.

“As for other targets wanted by Man United, I can tell you that Jean-Clair Todibo remains on the list; and then other than the two just mentioned, Tapsoba and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.”

How tall is Marc Guehi?

Standing at 6 foot exactly, Guehi isn’t that tall for a centre-back but he’s still been dubbed an “absolute tank” by England U21s goalkeeper Josef Bursik, and there’s no doubt that he could be a real rock in Ten Hag’s defence should he end up completing a move to Man United.

The Three Lions international last season averaged 3.6 clearances and 1.5 aerial wins per top-flight game, via WhoScored, highlighting the physical presence he provides, and he is also a versatile operator with his ability to play out wide at both left-back and right-back alongside his usual position.

Guehi, whose price tag is £60m, additionally shares the same agent, Unique Sports Group, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, so this existing connection that his representative already has to the club could give chiefs a small advantage should they decide to pursue a deal in the final weeks of the window.

Kível detalhou como foi o desafio de lidar com a lesão por tanto tempo.

– Eu me machuquei em fevereiro de 2019 em uma dividida acidental. No jogo contra o Itabaiana, minha perna travou embaixo do corpo de um adversário e fez uma fratura que é lesão multi-ligamentar, que é mais comum de acontecer em quem sofre acidente de moto. Foram 90 dias sem tocar os pés no chão, com meu pé inchado, praticamente deformado. Chorei muito de dor, minha esposa, minha mãe, minha sogra, minha família foram muito importantes – e emendou:

– Por isso que, na hora do gol, deu vontade de abraçar todo mundo. Os colegas com quem convivo mais tempo, o pessoal da cozinha que me ouvia gritar de dor… Nosso chefe, Matheus (Costa, treinador do Confiança), que infelizmente está afastado por Covid-19, mas tenho certeza que vibrou – completou.

O atacante afirmou que sua ligação com o Confiança ficou ainda mais estreita.

– É minha segunda passagem aqui. Todo mundo lembra do gol que eu fiz em 2014 aos 47 minutos do segundo tempo. Só tenho que agradecer pela ligação que tenho com o Confiança, com a Nação Proletária – frisou.

With the summer transfer window nearing its end, Tottenham Hotspur could yet welcome more reinforcements, especially after the exit of star man Harry Kane.

So far in the current window, the North London side have welcomed eight reinforcements in total, with the likes of James Maddison, and Manor Solomon making the switch.

Now, they have reportedly turned their attention to strengthening their attack even further.

What's the latest on Ernest Nuamah to Tottenham Hotspur?

According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Spurs are very keen admirers of Nordsjaelland winger Ernest Nuamah, but face competition for the 19-year-old from West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Burnley, with the Hammers reportedly placing a bid.

With that said, if the North London club do want to welcome the young winger to the club this summer, they may need to act fast, and potentially match West Ham's offer before the end of the window.

The last thing that Spurs will want to do is miss out on a potential future star to their London rivals. From Nuamah's perspective, he seemingly has the world at his feet, and could face an important decision in the next week or so. It's certainly one to keep an eye on.

Should Tottenham Hotspur sign Ernest Nuamah?

Welcoming a young winger who appears to have the potential to go on to achieve great things could represent a superb piece of business for Spurs, who would have the added bonus of beating West Ham to his signature.

Of course, game-time may be difficult to come by for Nuamah, but learning from the likes of Heung-min Son could be a crucial stage in his development as a player.

The left-footed attacker has already left many impressed with his performances at Nordsjaelland, earning deserved praise, including from manager Flemming Pederson, who said, via Breaking The Lines:

"Ernest is first and foremost a dribbler. He is incredibly fast, has a huge acceleration, and a good agility. He is primarily left-footed, but can also use the right. He is a great individualist with tremendous power, who has great potential to also become a skilled team player."

With that said, everything is pointing towards a player who has the ability to star for a side such as Spurs on the biggest stage.

If the Lilywhites managed to fend off interest from elsewhere to secure the services of Nuamah prior to the end of the summer transfer window, they may see it as a solid coup.

Spurs, of course, have a long way to go under Ange Postecoglou, but have shown plenty of signs of turning it a side to watch out for in England's top flight.

The former Celtic boss started his reign with an end-to-end 2-2 draw against Brentford, in a game that showed both the strengths and weaknesses of his new side. Spurs were then at their best against Manchester United, defeating the Red Devils 2-0 in comfortable fashion.

Um jogo sem muito brio durante 75 minutos foi compensado com 15 minutos elétricos. Nesta quarta-feira, Athletico Paranaense e Botafogo empataram em 1 a 1 na Arena da Baixada, em partida válida pela 9ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Victor Luís abriu o placar para o Alvinegro e Ravanelli empatou para o Furacão.

O Botafogo fez o gol aos 35 minutos do segundo tempo e, com a vantagem, tentou segurar a bola para garantir o resultado. O Athletico conseguiu o empate e no lance seguinte teve um pênalti, mas Nikão isolou. O final de jogo foi eletrizante e as duas equipes levaram um ponto para casa.

O próximo compromisso do Athletico Paranaense também será na Arena da Baixada. No sábado, o Furacão terá o clássico regional diante do Coritiba, às 16h30.

Depois de dois jogos longe do Rio de Janeiro, o Botafogo voltará a atuar na Cidade Maravilhosa na 10ª rodada do Brasileirão. O Alvinegro vai medir forças com o Vasco no próximo domingo, às 20h30, no Estádio Nilton Santos.

BLITZ ATHLETICANA
O time da casa começou tomando conta das ações da partida. Os dez primeiros minutos de jogo na Arena da Baixada foram monopolizados pelo Furacão, que pressionava alto, no campo de ataque, e não dava espaço para o Botafogo respirar.

A melhor chance do time comandado por Eduardo Barros foi logo no começo da partida, quando Fabinho avançou em velocidade, deixou dois marcadores para trás, mas chutou fraco e parou em boa defesa de Diego Cavalieri.

BOTAFOGO MARCA, MAS EM IMPEDIMENTO
O jogo ficou monótono no decorrer do primeiro tempo. Apesar do Athletico-PR pressionar em linha alta e correr para tentar roubar a bola do Botafogo ainda perto do próprio gol, o Furacão pouco criava com a posse de bola. O Alvinegro, por sua vez, buscava lançamentos longos nas costas dos laterais do time da casa, mas errou passes com frequência.

Uma das poucas jogadas que o Botafogo conseguiu encaixar parou em bola na rede. Kevin lançou Caio Alexandre em profundidade, cruzou e Bruno Nazário chegou sozinho para completar para o gol. ​O meio-campista, porém, estava em condição de impedimento e o gol foi anulado após revisão do árbitro de vídeo. A etapa inicial, portanto, terminou sem gols.

NAZÁRIO TEM GRANDE CHANCE
Pelo esforço colocado no primeiro tempo, o Athletico-PR naturalmente cansou na etapa complementar. Sem estar fisicamente inteiro, o Furacão passou longe de dominar o campo assim como nos primeiros 45 minutos. O Botafogo, portanto, ocupou mais o campo ofensivo.

The sight of Ben Stokes wandering through Heathrow Airport on Monday evening, sporting his full cricket kit, has been enough to spark an Ashes frenzy.But those speculating that Stokes was heading to Australia to reinforce England’s Ashes squad in the wake of their defeat in the first Test at Brisbane were disappointed – he was en route to New Zealand, where he arrived on Wednesday morning, and the ECB remained a little cagey about the reasons why.In response to wildfire speculation, the ECB said that Stokes was making a private trip to New Zealand to spend time with his family, but ESPNcricinfo understands that they granted him a No Objection Certificate on November 24 to play professional cricket in New Zealand.Stokes is serving no official ban, but has merely been stood down from international cricket indefinitely while the ECB await the decision from Avon and Somerset Police whether he will be charged following his part in a fracas outside a Bristol nightclub.Once that decision is reached, the ECB’s own internal disciplinary procedure must be concluded – and England cricket followers will not expect them to ruminate overlong.ESPNcricinfo has learned that once the police deliver their verdict, the board will meet (with video links if necessary) within 48 hours to decide how to respond.It remains unclear whether the Board would take the decision out of the hands of the disciplinary committee, chaired by Tim O’Gorman, which had been given responsibility for deciding Stokes’ punishment.In the meantime, discussions are underway with Canterbury about Stokes playing domestic cricket in New Zealand while he spends time with family in Christchurch. It is possible he could return to the pitch as early as Sunday when Canterbury play Otago in a List A game.A statement from Canterbury Cricket confirmed that they had “been in initial informal discussions with Ben Stokes’ representatives regarding his potential availability for Ford Trophy and Burger King Super Smash cricket.””The CCA Board and New Zealand Cricket will independently be considering this issue in the near future but, until then, we are unable to provide any more detail on the status of the deliberations,” Jeremy Curwin, the CEO of Canterbury Cricket, said. “As and when there are any further developments we will of course release further statements.”Stokes’ cricketing arrangements have not, it is understood, been arranged by the ECB. Indeed, many involved with the England set-up only found out about them late on Monday night in Brisbane which suggests that Stokes, and his agent, have been proactive in seeking cricket overseas.England are at pains to stress that he is not linking up with the Ashes squad, or the England Lions, who are currently in Queensland shadowing the main squad, or any other official training camps with the England set-up.Nevertheless, the fact he has flown to the other side of the world does indicate that his own interviews with Avon and Somerset Police are now at an end.If Stokes is charged then the ECB may reconsider their No Objection Certificate as part of their own disciplinary process. If he is not charged, then potentially he is perfectly placed to make a short flight to join England’s Ashes squad at short notice.All that means that speculation that he might yet play a part in the Ashes is unlikely to die down.Stokes was arrested in Bristol on September 25 and remains under investigation by Avon and Somerset Police, following allegations of Actual Bodily Harm in the wake of an altercation outside a nightclub.The ECB Board has made no secret of its desire to get him back on the field at the earliest opportunity, with Tom Harrison, the CEO, saying recently that they wished to “rehabilitate his reputation on the field”.There may also be some frustration in the England camp, however contrary that appears. The team management has done everything they could to build a calm, settled environment for the squad and has been at pains to silence talk about Stokes.The increased speculation this development will bring, coming on top of the Jonny Bairstow circus – in a bizarre episode, he was alleged to have head-butted Cameron Bancroft at the start of the tour – as well as a series of injuries, will not be viewed as entirely helpful.Despite insisting that the Bairstow incident had been ‘blown out of all proportion’, Andrew Strauss, the England team director, felt obliged to act in response, instigating a midnight curfew for the Ashes squad, and insisting they needed to be smarter if they are to improve the perception the public currently have of them.On Stokes’ prospects of playing any part in the Ashes, Strauss added: “We’re waiting for the police to make a charging decision and, until that happens, nothing has changed. We’re in the same situation as we have been for quite a long time now.”There are certain procedural things that have taken place but there is a process that can only kick in once we’ve heard a charging decision from the police. We’re relatively clear in our minds what the procedure is from here and the start is the police coming out with their charging decision and, until that happens, we can’t move forward.”
