Man Utd Want Defender Ahead of Liverpool

Manchester United are keen to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka when he becomes a free agent in the summer, Football Insider report.

What’s the latest on United and Ndicka?

Ndicka made the move to Frankfurt as a teenager back in 2018 from French side AJ Auxerre and has gone on to become a key member for the Bundesliga side.

The 23-year-old has now made 174 senior appearances for Frankfurt, mainly as a centre-back, contributing to 21 goals. However, the player is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has rejected multiple offers to extend his stay in Germany.

He looks set to be available for nothing in a matter of months as a result, with Old Trafford a potential destination. Football Insider shared an update in the last 48 hours regarding Ndicka and a possible move to the Premier League. They revealed that United and Liverpool are keen on signing the left-footed defender for free, with his future being described as one to watch.

What would Ndicka bring to United?

The Red Devils could be in need of a new centre-back over the coming months alongside a new midfielder and forward, with Erik ten Hag reportedly giving the green light to potential summer sales for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Should the pair depart as has been speculated, United could be left with just Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as senior options, with Phil Jones also out of contract this summer.

Ndicka could prove to be an extremely shrewd signing, especially for free as he is seemingly at the top of his game with a career-high €32m Transfermarkt valuation.

The 6 foot 3 defender has been hailed as a “towering” defender by journalist Jacque Talbot while former Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bovic also hailed Ndicka's qualities when signing the player back in 2018:

"Evan is only 18 years old, but he is very mature for his age. He is technically gifted, very fast and good in the air."

As for this season, as per WhoScored, Ndicka has impressed, averaging more clearances (5) and passes (57.3) than any United player per 90. He has also outperformed Varane, Maguire and Lindelof when it comes to match rating, and at the age of 23, could still have time to improve on his already solid game ahead of hitting his prime, possibly at Old Trafford.

Chelsea Hold "Positive" Contact With Three-Trophy Manager

Chelsea have held "positive" contact with manager Julian Nagelsmann regarding a potential move to Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

What's the latest on Nagelsmann to Chelsea?

Graham Potter has been under huge amounts of pressure to deliver in recent months following a poor run of form this season and during this large period of uncertainty, Todd Boehly reportedly approached Mauricio Pochettino and was a known admirer of Zinedine Zidane and Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi, but in the end, the owner decided to put his faith in the 47-year-old.

The German was recently relieved of his duties at Bayern Munich and replaced by the former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel which came as a huge surprise considering his side were only one point off the top of the table in the Bundesliga but the SW6 outfit won't mind as they have now identified him as a possible candidate for over the summer.

Football Insider reported last week that the Stamford Bridge side were monitoring the availability of the 35-year-old should they decide to have a change of heart over the future of Potter with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur also having him on their radar after the sacking of Antonio Conte, though it's the former who are first to make their official move.

Taking to Twitter, Galetti revealed that Chelsea have spoken to Nagelsmann about taking over should Potter be given his marching orders at the end of the season. He wrote:

"First positive contacts between #Nagelsmann and some #Chelsea representatives. To date, the former #BayernMunich coach is one of the #CFC's main options for the next season – together with Luis Enrique – in the event of Graham #Potter being sacked."

Bayern Munich's former boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Would Nagelsmann be a good appointment for Chelsea?

Nagelsmann has been dubbed a "tactical brainbox" by journalist Josh Bunting and if Chelsea are to dismiss Potter ahead of the 2023/24 term, he would be the perfect candidate to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge.

The Bavaria-born coach had a remarkable record during his time at the Allianz Arena where he won 60, drew 14 and lost just ten of his 84 games, averaging 2.31 points per match, via Transfermarkt, form that would get a squad of talented individuals like the Blues competing at the top end of the table and for silverware. Boehly's target also led his side to three trophies, twice winning the German Super Cup and once the Bundesliga so knows what it takes to be successful at the highest level, making this a match made in heaven.

Sky Sports Shares Man United Takeover Update

There will be a third round of bidding when it comes to a possible Manchester United takeover, Sky Sports reports.

What’s the latest on a Manchester United takeover?

News of the Glazers potentially selling up first emerged back in November, however, the process has proven to be a slow one ever since.

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe appear to be the frontrunners when it comes to any full sale by the American owners, with both eventually submitting second offers for the club last month.

Bidders were growing frustrated at the silence after making revised offers, but there has now been a further update, with a final round of bids planned.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth provided an update on Tuesday evening regarding a possible takeover at Old Trafford. Shared on Twitter, the reporter said:

“Bit of breaking news to bring you and developments on the Manchester United takeover process. We’re told that there’s going to be another round of bidding in the sale process of Manchester United.

“Rival bidders have been asked by Raine to submit their final offers by the end of this month – so around 19 days to submit another offer. There are believed to be seven interested parties, the majority of whom want to buy a minority stake in Manchester United.

“The two leading bidders – the ones we’ve been reporting for the last couple of months who want to buy out the Glazers – are Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Both are expected to put in final offers before the deadline. We're told that the Glazers want at least £6bn for the club.”

What will the Glazers do now?

Offers on the table at Old Trafford were thought to be worth around £5bn, so it looks as if the Glazers are holding out for bids closer towards their £6bn valuation.

Gary Neville wasn’t exactly thrilled at the latest update, describing it as “classless” and said it will be “toxic” if the Glazers remain at the club.

However, it looks as if the Glazers haven’t exactly all been on the same page during the process either, with previous reports suggesting that Avram Glazer doesn’t want to sell up, whereas Joel Glazer could be persuaded to cash in and the other four siblings are in favour of selling at a big profit.

Therefore, this final round of offers could prove to be key over any full sale, and we may know more heading into May, where Erik ten Hag's side could still be on the hunt for two more trophies to go alongside their Carabao Cup triumph.

Lampard Repeating Potter’s Mistake With £175k-p/w Chelsea "Disgrace"

Frank Lampard’s time at Chelsea has not gotten off to the best start as the Blues legend has overseen two defeats with his side maintaining their woeful goalscoring form after drawing blanks against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Real Madrid.

Goalscoring is obviously the main issue for the Stamford Bridge outfit right now but Lampard is already repeating one of Graham Potter’s worst mistakes as Chelsea boss, by selecting Marc Cucurella as a wide centre-back in the three-at-the-back system.

Should Chelsea be playing Cucurella at centre-back?

Cucurella was signed from Brighton in the summer of 2022 for £60m, despite the Blues already having Ben Chilwell as their first-choice left-back.

It was easy to see why Todd Boehly was keen to bring the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge considering he had averaged a strong 6.94 rating from WhoScored across 35 Premier League appearances in his debut season with the Seagulls.

The former Getafe man, who earns a whopping £175k-per-week at Stamford Bridge, has spent much of his career playing as a left-midfielder and left-back, so seemed perfect for the wing-back role in Chelsea’s system, yet he has inexplicably been selected as a centre-back by Thomas Tuchel, Potter and now Lampard.

Standing at 5 foot 8 in stature, the 24-year-old arguably lacks the required physicality to be a successful centre-back in the Premier League, which is emphasised by his disappointing average of 0.7 aerials won per game in the top flight this season, the 13th-best in Chelsea’s squad.

Unsurprisingly, playing in an unnatural position has seen Cucurella struggle throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, with the defender averaging a disappointing 6.65 rating from WhoScored for his performances in the league so far this campaign.

This currently ranks him as the 15th-best performer in Lampard’s squad and given how much Boehly invested in the Spain international, it is disappointing that he has endured such a difficult start to life at Chelsea.

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard

While Chelsea managers are clearly trying to accommodate him and Chilwell in the same team by playing him as a centre-back, it has cost the Blues in recent games against Aston Villa and Real Madrid.

In the 2-0 home defeat which cost Potter his job, Cucurella’s weak header back to the goalkeeper sent Ollie Watkins in on goal for the opener, while his failure to track Rodrygo on Wednesday night saw the Brazilian go in on goal, with Chilwell then hauling him down and receiving a red card.

The ever-out-spoken Jamie O’Hara didn’t hold back in his criticism of the defender after his Champions League cameo, labelling him a “disgrace” on Twitter, and Lampard must learn quickly that he isn’t a centre-back, or he risks repeating the mistakes of his predecessor.

Pochettino Could Unleash Frightening Chelsea Phenom

Mauricio Pochettino is now seemingly the favourite to take over as Chelsea's new manager after both Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann were ruled out of a move to Stamford Bridge recently.

What's the latest on Chelsea's manager search?

According to The Guardian, the former PSG boss is now the front-runner to take over in west London after holding positive talks with the club in recent weeks.

Competitors Nagelsmann and Enrique are both said to be out of the running, although no official approach has been made for the 51-year-old, with Chelsea seemingly happy to take their time as Frank Lampard continues as interim manager.

Chelsea may face competition from Pochettino's former club, Tottenham Hotspur, who are also on the lookout for a new boss after sacking Antonio Conte, but it seems as if the Argentine has been on Todd Boehly's radar for some time, as he was considered as the replacement for Thomas Tuchel before Graham Potter took over.

It would not be a surprise if the former Southampton boss is the man in the dugout for Chelsea next term, and he could be the man to finally get the best out of £88.5m signing Mykhailo Mudryk, who has struggled immensely since his January switch from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Could Pochettino unleash Mudryk?

While some Chelsea fans may have already written off Mudryk after a disappointing start to life in England, he is still only 22 and had fewer than 100 senior appearances to his name in Ukraine before moving to Stamford Bridge.

There is clearly a talented player there, as he had contributed an incredible ten goals and eight assists in just 18 appearances in the first half of the season for Shakhtar, including three goals and two assists in six Champions League outings, which saw him labelled as "frightening" by journalist Josh Bunting.

Nearly every player at Chelsea has been guilty of underperforming this season, with Lampard clearly also unable to get the best out of his squad, and under Pochettino next season, every player would surely be afforded a fresh chance to prove themselves.

MauricioPochettino linked with Chelsea

The Argentinian manager certainly has history with some of the top wingers in Europe, having worked with Heung-min Son at Spurs and Kylian Mbappe at PSG, with those two players trailing only Harry Kane in terms of goals scored under Pochettino.

Son would join Spurs in the summer of 2015 under the Argentine but, like Mudryk, struggled immensely in his first season at the club, managing just four goals and one assist in 28 Premier League appearances. Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best in the league over the past seven years.

Mudryk is at Chelsea for the long term, having signed a contract until 2031, and if he is given regular game time under a world-class coach, then perhaps he could go on to become one of the best in the league, as we saw from Son in his time working with Pochettino at Spurs.

Celtic Struck Gold On £19k-p/w "Talisman"

Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final triumph has ensured that Celtic could well be closing in on what would be a richly deserved treble success, with that domestic clean sweep set to be just reward for the fine work that manager Ange Postecoglou has done since his arrival at Parkhead in the summer of 2021.

Having been something of an unknown quantity at the time of his move to Glasgow, the 57-year-old has since emerged as a highly-coveted and in-demand coach, having reportedly even been under consideration for the top job at Chelsea of late.

The Greek-Aussie has particularly caught the eye due to the "beautiful attacking football" that he has been able to implement at the Old Firm outfit – as per BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves – with that transformative style of play having gone hand in hand with the experienced figure's "exceptional" recruitment record, as hailed by former skipper, Scott Brown.

Postecoglou's astute transfer business began right from the outset with the signing of Kyogo Furuhashi from Vissel Kobe on a £4.6m deal, with the Japan international having been the first addition of the new manager's tenure.

Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi

While the striker's capture did appear something of a left-field move at the time as the diminutive ace had never played in European football prior to making the move, the 28-year-old has since gone on to become a real cult figure at Celtic Park, having been "so pivotal" in the club's success of late, as per pundit James McFadden.

A "huge fans' favourite" at the club, Kyogo has arguably been Postecoglou's "best signing" – in the words of journalist Pete O'Rourke – with that having become even more evident of late amid the forward's soaring valuation.

How good has Kyogo been for Celtic?

As the aforementioned O'Rourke has only recently stated, Kyogo has been an instrumental presence at Paradise thus far after helping to take Celtic to a "new level", having truly become the "main man" in the starting lineup.

The respected source even went on to suggest that the 5 foot 8 speedster has "got to rank as one of the best signings in SPFL history”, with that a further indication of the stunning and consistent form that the clinical centre-forward has since over the past two years.

In truth, it didn't take long for the £19k-per-week man to show his class having memorably netted a hat-trick on his home debut against Dundee back in August 2021, with that setting the tone for what would be an impressive first season in Scottish football.

Despite missing a fair chunk of the 2021/22 campaign through injury, the 16-cap menace was still able to rack up 20 goals and five assists in just 33 appearances across all fronts, having gone on to eclipse that tally this season.

Currently the leading scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 23 league goals, Kyogo has recorded a standout haul of 29 goals and five assists in 44 games in all competitions, including five goals against bitter rivals Rangers in the current campaign alone.

The Nara-born sensation has particularly thrived up against the Ibrox outfit throughout his time in Glasgow, having notably bagged a brace in the League Cup final triumph at Hampden Park back in February, as well as another double in the recent derby meeting in the league at Celtic Park, with that 3-2 win effectively sealing the title for the hosts.

Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi

Not just a ruthless presence in front of goal, however, the one-time FC Gifu man has particularly impressed due to his ability to terrorise a defence with his clever, sharp movement, with that trait having been hailed as the "best" that Postecoglou has "ever seen".

The dynamic gem has thus become arguably "the best player in Scotland over the last couple of seasons" – according to O'Rourke – having firmly established himself as the real "talisman" in attack for the Bhoys, in the words of former Mirror journalist, Brian McNally.

How much is Kyogo worth now?

Unsurprisingly, however, such rampant form has brought with it unwelcome attention from clubs south of the border, with Football Insider recently reporting that Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in signing the prolific hotshot this summer.

As per the report, Postecoglou and co are now braced for bids of around £15m amid that growing interest in the striker's services, with that rather hefty price tag an indication of just how well-regarded Kyogo is by those outside of the club.

That fee is also noteworthy as it represents a 226% rise in comparison to the £4.6m that was dished out almost two years ago, with Celtic set to rake in a tidy profit if they are to cash in ahead of next season.

Celtic's Kyogo

That being said, the champions-elect will certainly do all they can to keep hold of a player who now has 49 goals to his name in just 77 games for the club, with the centre-forward's soaring valuation just merely a further indication of Postecoglou's impressive transfer dealings.

Whether Kyogo does stay or go in the near future, it remains the case that the Old Firm giants truly stuck gold with his bold acquisition.

Aston Villa: Emery Could Have Buendia Heir in Teen Prodigy

Aston Villa are having a season to remember since the transformation of the squad’s form by Unai Emery. The Spaniard has raised the bar since making the switch from Villareal to the Midlands and taking Villa from relegation candidates to European hopefuls in just over half a season.

The squad has been rejuvenated under the 51-year-old’s watchful eye, and has boosted the form and performance potential of many squad members, most notably Ollie Watkins who has 14 goals in the league so far this season.

Another player that has been performing well under Emery is Emiliano Buendia, when the Argentinian arrived at Villa Park in the summer of 2021, no one could doubt his quality after being named Player of the Season in the Championship the year prior.

With the club’s change in managers and change in form, it was a difficult period for Buendia, who looks to be back to his best playing as a versatile forward in Emery’s system, covering a range of positions.

The four-time Europa League winning coach praised the Argentinian’s “mentality” as well explaining his desire to explore in midfield and attack, using him as a “second striker” and “left-winger playing inside” in this dynamic Villa team.

Buendia has scored five goals this season, four of which coming during Emery’s reign as manager, and ranks in the top five in expected goal conversion in the Premier League.

It’s clear to see that the forward is flourishing under Emery, and despite having the playmaker on a five-year-contract, Villa already seem to have an heir to the 26-year-old in their ranks.

Who is Omari Kellyman?

Northern Irish forward Omari Kellyman is a player capturing the eye of many, including Emery from the club’s academy. The 17-year-old has already trained with the first team, and scored in front of the Spaniard during Villa’s behind-closed-doors fixture against Bristol Rovers.

Heralded as a “star in the making” by Birmingham Live’s Villa correspondent Ashley Preece, the youngster is on the right track to being a star in the Premier League one day.

The former Derby County academy star had a strong start to life with the Midlands side, scoring a goal and assisting three in the U18 Premier League, which saw his promotion to the U21’s side.

Moving things up a notch hasn’t bothered the starlet, who has five goal contributions in 10 appearances in the PL2, scoring three and assisting two so far.

Kellyman was nominated for the U21 league’s player of the month award for February, and has become more and more impressive since his transfer to Villa last year.

The youngster bears a lot of similarities to Buendia, sparking thoughts that he could be the next attacking star to grace the top division for the club in the future. Like the Argentinian, the 17-year-old is versatile in attack, featuring as a right-winger, a central midfielder and at times on the left too this season.

Midfielder’s with the ability to move in and around the attack is a trait that Emery is a fan of, as shown through Buendia’s emergence to form in his free flowing system behind the striker.

At just 17, there is a bright future ahead for Kellyman, who is ticking all the right boxes so far at Villa.

Leeds: "Phenomenal" 2008 Signing Would Be Perfect For Big Sam

Sam Allardyce has already spoken out about Wilfried Gnonto and his role at Leeds United before even taking over at Elland Road, and the Italian winger could reclaim a regular starting spot under the experienced coach in the final few Premier League fixtures of the season.

However, the 68-year-old may well be wishing that he had one of his and the Whites' former players available to him for the relegation run-in instead, as a prime Robert Snodgrass could be exactly what the Yorkshire outfit needs.

How did Snodgrass perform in his time at Leeds?

Leeds would sign the Scottish winger from Livingstone back in 2008, with the youngster making an instant impact at Elland Road, hitting 11 goals and one assist in all competitions.

He was one of the stars of Simon Grayson's side the following season as they earned promotion from League One, registering an impressive seven goals and 11 assists as the Yorkshire outfit finished second in the third tier.

Snodgrass had little trouble adjusting to the Championship and managed another six goals and eight assists in the 2010/11 campaign, before enjoying arguably the best form of his career the season after.

The versatile attacker hit 13 goals and 15 assists in the second tier despite Leeds finishing in 14th position, so it was no surprise to see him move to the Premier League the following summer, as he joined Norwich City in a deal thought to be worth just £2.5m.

What has Robert Snodgrass done since leaving Leeds?

While Leeds was undoubtedly where Snodgrass showed his best form, given he managed 41 goals and 40 assists in 191 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit, he has gone on to enjoy a successful career in England and Scotland.

Spells with Hull City, Aston Villa, West Ham, West Brom, Luton Town and most recently Hearts would follow for the Scotland international, which included eight appearances under Allardyce for the Baggies in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

A recent spell with Luton saw the experienced wide man earn plenty of praise from former manager Nathan Jones for both his attitude and application on the pitch.

He said:

“If he came in with any ego, didn’t train hard, didn’t want to do his extras, didn’t want to buy into our structure, and thought ‘I’m Robert Snodgrass, I’ve played in the Premier League, I’ve been promoted’, but he’s come in and been exemplary in everything he does. He’s phenomenal."

Would Robert Snodgrass in his prime help Leeds now?

While Leeds fans have been clamouring for the 19-year-old gem to start more often in recent weeks, the reality is that Allardyce now has four games to keep the club in the Premier League and starting the inexperienced teen could backfire.

The Italian's return of two goals and four assists in the top flight this season is certainly impressive for someone so young, but the experience and quality that someone like Snodgrass could have offered would have been a great option for Allardyce to have.

Considering the Scot's phenomenal form during his time at Elland Road, Leeds fans will be wishing that they had a similar player available for the upcoming four games, which could define the club's future.

Man Utd Planning Move For £100m "Rolls Royce"

Manchester United are reportedly interested in making a high-profile swoop for West Ham United star, Declan Rice, with the England international seemingly edging toward a summer exit from the London Stadium.

What's the latest on Rice to Man United?

That's according to journalist Jacob Steinberg, who revealed on Twitter that the Red Devils are ready to battle it out with rivals Arsenal for the 24-year-old's signature: "Manchester United planning move for Declan Rice this summer. Arsenal have put in a lot of groundwork but they now face competition from United for the West Ham midfielder."

In his attached piece for The Guardian, the transfer insider revealed that while United's focus appears to be on landing a new striker this summer, there is 'growing' interest in the Hammers ace.

While it is said that there is 'no guarantee' that Erik ten Hag's side will lodge a bid for the one-time Chelsea youth product – who could command a fee of around £100m – Rice does appear to be a potential target for the Old Trafford outfit, with the midfielder in line for an exit from his current side with just a year left on his existing deal.

How would Rice fit in at Man United?

It is perhaps easy to see why Ten Hag is keeping tabs on the 6 foot 1 maestro, with Manchester Evening News having previously reported that the Dutchman is keen to acquire a 'younger midfielder' ahead of next season, after bringing in the experienced duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer.

The addition of Rice could well prove bad news for the latter man, in particular, with it unlikely to be Casemiro – who has been hailed as the "cement" in the side by his manager – who is ousted from his starting berth next season, having cost the club a rather hefty £70m back in August.

In the case of Eriksen – who arrived on a free transfer at the start of last summer – the Danish playmaker has made an impressive impact at the Theatre of Dreams this season with two goals and nine assists in all competitions, although at 31, it remains to be seen if he can be a long-term solution in the centre of the park.

Man United's Christian Eriksen

For all the former Tottenham Hotspur man's creative benefits – showcased by the fact that he ranks in the top 1% among his European peers for assists – he seemingly does not possess the ball-winning brilliance nor the mobility of the aforementioned Rice.

That is shown by the fact that the West Ham machine ranks in the top 3% for interceptions and the top 14% for progressive carries as a marker of his ability to both win back the ball but also drive forward from deep, while Eriksen, by contrast, ranks in just the bottom 10% and the top 37% for those same two metrics respectively.

It was also Rice – who has been hailed as a "Rolls Royce" by pundit Danny Murphy – who came out on top when the two sides met in the capital last weekend, with 90min's Toby Cudworth writing that the 41-cap ace was 'absolutely sensational', while Eriksen, by contrast, was 'overwhelmed' in the second half – according to GOAL's Richard Martin.

That stellar showing from the Englishman will likely have piqued the interest of Ten Hag and co even further, with it set to be no surprise if the £60k-per-week ace is lining up alongside Casemiro next term in a red jersey.

Khawaja shakes off 'horrendous' fielding

Usman Khawaja’s ability with the bat has never been in doubt, but there have been question-marks over his fielding during the course of his five years in international cricket

ESPNcricinfo staff17-Jun-2016Usman Khawaja’s ability with the bat has never been in doubt, but there have been question-marks over his fielding during the course of his five years in international cricket. So it was again during Australia’s loss to West Indies on Monday in St Kitts, where he top scored with 98 but then spilled two early chances in the field to give reprieves to both of the West Indies openers. In the second over of the chase, Khawaja was at mid-on where he dropped a gettable chance from Andre Fletcher, and in the eighth over Khawaja was at long-on when he missed a sitter to reprieve Johnson Charles. Australia will need far sharper performances in the field when they take on West Indies and South Africa in Barbados in the push for a place in the tri-series final.”I don’t think we fielded particularly well and obviously I put my hand up in that department,” Khawaja said. “Sometimes you just have horrendous games and you just can’t do anything about it, the ball follows you around.”Obviously it’s a big part of cricket. A big part of what we do well. If we’re fielding well, we usually win games so it’s quite important. I’m not the first person to drop a catch. It happens. You try and move on as quickly as possible.”Australia’s first training session at Kensington Oval in Barbados focused solely on fielding, with no bowling or batting, as stand-in coach Justin Langer sought to turn around their sloppy work. The Australians take on South Afric on Sunday and West Indies on Tuesday, and the series has already shown the evenness of the three sides, with each team having won two and lost two.Australia are without opener David Warner, who broke his finger earlier in the series, which has allowed Khawaja to move up the order to open the batting alongside Aaron Finch. Khawaja looked comfortable in the role on Monday and although he missed out on a maiden ODI century, he is now averaging 46.66 in the format this year.”When I was younger I was always pigeonholed as a four-day player. It frustrated me a lot,” Khawaja said. “Even when I performed back in first grade cricket at the time when I was really young, I still wouldn’t get a chance at New South Wales.”I finally got a chance – I put some numbers on the board and I did well and we won a few games. Australia just had a set one-day team and no matter how many runs I scored in the Matador Cup, it was too hard to crack it.”
